Regarding target placement in the Kill House

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering about something concerning the Armory Kill House challenge in the village where you do the MOUT training in the boot camp.

When you enter the house right before the end of the challenge, there is the sound of a target popping up right about when you pass the stairs, but I can NEVER seem to find it! It sounds like it's real close but I can't see it anywhere, and unlike some of the targets it pops up EVERY single time! Can anyone give me a pointer or is this just a bug or something? It's driving me crazy that I always miss that one target.

Why is this driving you crazy? Are you given a cake on finishing this? Sorry but i just briefly checked it out because there is so much more to do in ARMA2 than doing that. That is in the training part created for people not knowing diddley about ARMA2. Not even how you put out a unit and some targets in the editor (very very simple).

Tips: Put out a unit and some targets in the editor. Shoot them down - go buy a cake cause you earned it from taking the first steps in the editor. ;)

From there the game explodes into tons of things to do. Opens up into a much deeper world where you can drive yourself nuts over many funnier things than a MOUT course made for newcomers. :)

Just a friendly tips.

It's a lot quicker and easier to use the ready made thing in the armory than building your own kill house in the editor. And more useful too since you don't know the exact placement of all targets as you do if you place them yourself. It may be used mostly by newcomers, but does that mean that problems with the armory should just be ignored? I've noticed the same thing myself, it's almost impossible to finish the kill house challenge because some targets can not be seen.

I played the Armory completely through (on Utes) before I entered the rest of the game (old PC back then, which could not handle Chernarus and/or many units) and this particular challenge must have been the hardest - I think I finished it only two or three times.

Eventually I started kind of cheating it, picking some serious firepower (tank, chopper attack plane) and shelled/bombed the hell out of some parts of the village, with the tank I ran over some fences.

But you have to be careful, e.g. not dropping certain trees and the like.

The damage done will pertain as long as you don't quit the armory, which, after switching to firearms, makes detecting and engaging certain targets much easier.

Of course, as I said, one might consider this cheating...

I'm not talking about the MOUT course, I'm talking about the Kill House challenge in the armory. And afaik the armory is all about unlocking every item, not noob training. I get the feeling you're mixing armory up with the boot camp. For the record if you want to know why I play around in the armory it's because I want to unlock every item. Maybe you just don't have this mentality, but shooting three units you placed in the editor and unlocking all the units in the armory from collecting all the points are two different magnitudes of completion.

And Johan S feel free to ask me about targets you can hear but not see, I think I've nailed most of them save for the one popping up when I pass the stairs inside the building.

Thanks, but I think that's the one I've never really got either. Some of the others you need to stand exactly right to see, but this one seems totally hidden.

Yeah that's why I made this thread, I've looked around the house, tried to look at the ceiling, pretty much everything. The only thing convincing me it's not just a sound effect out of place is the fact that I've lost on account of missing that target before.

It's a small detail I guess, but I really hope someone has the answer. It just feels annoying to get every target but ONE every single time, especially when it sounds like it pops up right next to you.

On an entirely unrelated note though, does anyone know what the random smoke grenades in the armory mean? Sometimes(quite often actually) there will be red smoke as from a smoke grenade near the place where you are taking a challenge(a kill house track for example) does this mean anything? Is it some sort of secret thingy? I walked over to one of them once only to see another smoke cloud appear further away, however when I approached the second cloud I couldn't see another and wouldn't waste time looking for it all over the map.

Seems to be just random smoke, I have never found anything near it. It looks strange when you're out on the water and smoke suddenly rises up from somewhere beneath the waves.
