Commissar1032 10 Posted December 8, 2009  Ok I will admit I have just recently purchased ArmA 1 and have owned ArmA 2 since it was released but I need some help.. well a lot of help. I can do the basics of spawning and way points but I can not master how to put a vehicle in the editor ex:*LCVP* and have the AI spawn in it. I am not trying to post probably the same thread that you have all seen over and over and I am sure there will be some senior member making a snide remark that goes along the lines of :" if you didn't want to have the same thread as 30+ people how about you search the forums*. Well anyway all i am asking for is a little help on how to go into the right direction of doing some complex scripting/coding or whatever you do to make it work. Thanks for your time -Commissar1032
-)rStrangelove 0 Posted December 8, 2009 Just put an exec command into the init-line of the placed vehicle to start a script. use [_this] to let the script 'know' about the vehicle so you can use it in the script, like: (pseudocode here) _myvehicle = _this select 0; _mydriver = ..... (spawncode for a driver) ; _mydriver moveindriver _myvehicle;
nomdeplume 0 Posted December 8, 2009 I'm confused by both the question and the answer! ;) It might help to explain a bit more exactly what you want to do. A vehicle placed that's a member of a side (i.e. BLUFOR, OPFOR etc, not "Empty") will contain its crew by default. If you want to add passengers, the easiest way in the editor is to add the people next to it (either by adding individual units, or using the Group mode) and then make sure they're grouped to the vehicle. You can use Group mode (F2) to drag the blue group links between units. Once they're all in the same group, go to unit mode (F1) and double-click each man to open its properties. If you set its "Special" flag to "In cargo" (the default is usually In Formation), when the mission starts, that soldier will be loaded into the cargo space of the vehicle, i.e. as a passenger. The AI will generally get out when it contacts an enemy, and get back in if moving a long distance, but you can also give the group load/unload waypoints if you want a bit more control (e.g. debarking troops before assaulting a position). If you had something more specific in mind, you could post in more detail in one of the editing sections of the forum.
