water depth

Recommended Posts

I am using this editor mod to place water objects. The textures only have 2 dimensions though. If i setpos them up 3, then I can use a boat, which will "float" normally and usually the player will swim, but sometimes the player will "fall though" the texture and then be walking around, under the texture, on dry ground. How can I make the water be 3 dimensional? So far my only idea is to setpos stack the pieces. 1 at setpos +.5, then +1, then +1.5 and so on.

U using setposASL that might work better. ASL = At sea level.

One thing to watch out for, I made a set of docks and then changed the time of day, the level of everything changed depending on what time of day it is O_o test it bud it can really fuck your mission up otherwise.

Tides? ;)

heh, yeah but i was using a dock and just setpos which "shouldnt" have been effected by tidal problems ;)

I hear there might be another setpos variant like AGL at ground level never got round to looking at it.

--edit setPosATL at terrain level.

thanks for the help guys, but I think you misunderstand what zombie is looking for. the issue is the water objects in the editorupgrade addon he is using is a 2D object, while he is searching for a 3D effect.

if you place a water object at say, 1m, you will see a floating plane of water, that disappears when you go prone because there is no texture underneath the top.

depending on the setpos hieght, you will start swimming if you walk into the object, or you could 'fall through' the water and walk on the ground underneath the water object.

If you were, oh i dunno, flying from a catapult and land in the water ;) , you would get the fall through effect and be walking under the water. :D

He is trying to minimize or eliminate the 'fall through' effect.
