dispersion question

Recommended Posts

Hi there.

I could not find the answer on the forum, and had to create a new topic.

So, im interested in what is expressed by dispersion in CfgWeapons.hpp. Its degree, mils, MOA, or what? Can some tell me, please?

Did you try forum search?

It should be explained in the OFP and ArmA 1 forums.

kju, can you give me link, please?

-----------------------------

So, i searched in many forums, wiki, but nothing concrete has been found.

Perhaps this is because of some difficulties searching for me in english ...

Therefore, ask for clarification either here, or in the subject or give a link where this was discussed...

Hello again!

I аgain was faced with a problem... Im trying to adjust the accuracy of ACE 1 + 1.09 patch.

If i decrease the dispersion, it works, and if the increase - no... Tell me please, maybe i have missed something?

For example:

dispersion = 1.5*0.0025;

replace to

dispersion = 0.0012; but it dont worked(checked through an optical sight), it remains unchanged....

And question two:

I increase hit to a some cartridge(7,62x54 svd), but it also remains unchanged...

Thanks. Looks good. Sorry to bother, yet cfgPatches needs to be checked too.

Did you use the config explorer to check if the values are actually active?

At times other addons overwrite it, if not correct loading order via cfgPatches is defined.

PS: I recommend you to keep the old value as comment, like

dispersion = 0.0001;//0.002;

Also source control and diff tools are very helpful in config work.

Thank you for your reply!

If any files you do not have enough to understand, I packed an entire folder ace_config_weapon. He had from the beginning to do so. :)

So, here's links to the original configs and change, you can check and tell me where I go wrong?

Your changes look fine. Make sure to remove the config.bin!

Otherwise it will be active and not the unpacked .cpp+.hpp files.

Yes, it is removed, but my setup still does not work. I do not even know why. :(

Can configs somehow protected or something like that?

Access can do that. Did you use config explorer yet to see if values are active?

Also make sure not to load the ACE standard version at the same time.

Thank you, now tried to config explorer. It shows that my settings do not work. In the address bar bin\config.bin/cfgWeapons/ where all the settings.

I think it should look config.bin somewhere in one of the pbo files and had to change it.

Hm ok. At least some progress.

Did you remove the same addon from @ace folders?

Maybe you can run this addon standalone without crashing for testing at least.

I deleted all the files from the Addons folder, except for changes ace_config_weapon.pbo .... Loaded with some errors, but it loaded and was able to go to the config explorer.

But changes still not working. Here, I made a few screenshots.

Maybe try to pack everything. Hpp and. Cpp to. Bin? Tell me what program to use for this?

Or maybe it was because of ace_config_weapon.pbo.ACE_MOD_v1.09.bisign?

What tool to you use to pack the folder to pbo?

Post a clean rpt to see all addons loaded.

I unpacked the original pbo, unbin config.bin and test changed values only ak74. In config explorer has become evident that changes in working!

Then I changed the values and the rest of the weapons, but when the new came in the config explorer, change imperceptibly, only those who were with ak74 ...

I sent the updated file to another person and he has earned everything he checked it out also in the config explorer.

So why did I not work? Maybe the files somewhere cached?

Maybe in win7. Dunno.

Only two reasons I know:

1) Your addon is not loaded for whatever reason.

2) The original ACE addon is loaded too and disables yours.

What you can try is:

a) Rename cfgPatches

b) Add dependency to the original ACE cfgP class.

c) load both your and standard ACE pbo

Many thanks for the tips, kju!

In the end, I completely removed the ace, and Arma, then reinstalled both.

All changes work! Thank you once again that helped me! :)
