petz_e 10 Posted November 2, 2009 Hi, Good think I tried the Demo of Arma 2 first before buying the game. I downloaded the demo from Steam. When I start the game, I see the Bohemia screen, the 17+ rating, a copyright screens and then the 2 artwork screen with the tank and the bunker (?). After that, the screen gets black and returns to the desktop. No error messages, except the windows message that the program stopped working. I am on Windows 7 (64bit), 2.33GHz QUAD, 10 GB RAM, NVIDA GeForce GT120. Drivers are up-to-date, and everything runs smoothly with the recent game.
petz_e 10 Posted November 2, 2009 I have just removed Steam and downloaded the demo from the official site. Same problem here, the game quits.
EDcase 87 Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) Try... Make a shortcut and add to the start command line: After .exe -winxp -nosplash -world=empty Sorry but I think your GT120 will not be powerful enough to run ARMA2 Hope you get it going... no use for a name 0 Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) well the GT120 is a re-branded 9500GT (which in turn is basically a re-branded 8600GT in 65nm architecture); which should run the game...albeit on lower settings. Which drivers (version) are you running? personally, that card is a huuuge chokepoint for that system...running it with a quad and 10gigs of RAM is almost pointless Edited November 3, 2009 by No Use For A Name

Not the best graphic card for my system, but this was already in the machine and I couldn't affort another graphic card at that moment. I don't need full details and maximum resolution. If it runs at decent quality, I am happy :) I will try EDcase's method tomorrow. Let's see if this helps.
petz_e 10 Posted November 4, 2009 Try...Make a shortcut and add to the start command line: After .exe -winxp -nosplash -world=empty Hope you get it going... Unfortunately, this did not work for me. I do see a different loading screen but after this the game quits without any warning or message. I also tried this game on my MacBookPro, and here I am able to run the game without any problems. Although, here, graphic card, processor and memory are far too bad to run the game even at minimum quality.
no use for a name 0 Posted November 5, 2009 have you closed down any unnecessary programs before running the game? Try something like http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html and give it a shot
