ajsarge 10 Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) Hey all- I came up with the bright idea one night of wanting someone add the weapons from the Halo series of games into Arma 2. Since even if I asked in my prettiest voice, with ice cream and a cherry on top, nobody was likely to do it very quickly, if at all. So hey, I'm doing it myself. A couple issues though, A: I've never gone and actually made a model/skin/sound/WHATEVER (except for some newbie mapping in doom3/Quake 4) for a game. B: I don't have any professional-grade software that I can use to make to model, skin it, rig/animate, or just export to a useable format. Just Google SketchUp 7 (free, non-$500 version). C: Well, never having done this before, and not knowing of the resources that are available (already looked at the editing Wiki and I don't see anything related to 1st-time walkthroughs or step-by-step guides) I don't quite know what I'm doing. Currently, I've made a simple extremely low-detail SMG (creating my own models that look like the ones in-game but isn't the actually models used so I don't hit any legal snags) just for testing and getting the system running. For a while it will be personal use only, but I will eventually make high-poly models with full animations. At that point I'll probably let people have at it and release the full set of human weapons. Yeah, low-detail... But before I get there, I need some help. Whether you link me to a PDF or a website that goes through everything, I don't care. I also need some software I can use that is free to export/create models, animations, textures, etc. At some point, I'm also thinking of tinkering with vehicles, aircraft, and new soldier models. But that is much farther into the future. In the meantime, any help is appreciated. Short Update: Just after I posted, I found the little suite of tools BIS has out for Arma 2. I'm downloading that now, and will be installing and poking through it shortly. Edited October 20, 2009 by AJsarge
