{USI}_Leader_Neo 0 Posted March 29, 2002 Does anyone know if the dedicated server software has a linux version? thanx Neo
Mister Frag 0 Posted March 29, 2002 There is no LINUX-based server at this point. The current version of OFP uses DirectX's DirectPlay APIs for the networking and Voice-over-IP routines. It is being rewritten to use straight socket-based code (I wonder whose VoIP technology they'll license...), and once that is done, it would be much more feasible to have a LINUX server. Mister Frag 0 Posted March 29, 2002 Yes, that's pretty much it. There are also instructions out there on how to get the Windows-based server to run on LINUX: http://www.flashpointcenter.com/downloa....uage=en
{USI}_Leader_Neo 0 Posted March 29, 2002 thanx a lot man. since you know a lot, you know any good and cheap dedicated server providers? Thanx in advance, Neo
Mister Frag 0 Posted March 29, 2002 Sorry, I don't. I know it has been brought up before in these forums, so you may want to try searching the archives. You should also indicate where you are located (country and city) if you are looking for a hosting company, someone who reads this might be able to help you.
