kamakazii 10 Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) Hi all. Need some help here. Maybe someone here could give me aa few pointers to at least make it a little more enjoyable? *Firstly, there is a bug making it pitch black at night. And I mean that, the screen is pitch black. Only with the lights on in the tank one can se a little. I restareted the game and suddenly i could see again eventhough it was night time, after dying and reverting...same pitch black darkness again!! Any work arounds of this terrible bug? *Secondly, when constructing defences, HOW does one man the defences??? The MG nests are empty, wow what great defence! Sure i can buy a unit or two, but one can only have 12 units!? *Thirdly, like I mentioned above, one can only eemploy 8 more units or two T-72 tanks! This cant be right? There is NO WAY to beat the last mission in a realistic way by capturing and then securing towns with additional units with only 8 or 2 available!? Any suggestions? Some complaints about the game in general. This game has potential, but as it stands right now its average at best. The bugs and lack of realism is really bad. Enemies are supermen with xray vision that make superman look like a sissy. Arma 1 was pretty good, it felt like a complte game. This time around it feels rushed and poorly thought through. The campaign never really starts! I was very dissapointed when i realized that DOW was the end!? I thought that this was where the game was picing up and getting interesting. looking forward to Operation Flashpoint 2! I hope they deliver a better game. Better luck next time Bohemia! Thanks Edited October 2, 2009 by kamakazii
jeffroland 10 Posted October 2, 2009 1. Not sure about the bug, I wasn't aware of it but will look for it the second time through the campaign. Your best bet is to find a dead enemy officer in DOW. they usually have NV goggles. 2. AFIK, only men from your squad can man the defenses. And, I agree, it's really useless. 3. Ummm, have you tried the command mode? In the beginning of DoW you're given the option to command the war or just your own squad. If you choose to command then you get to buy your own forces and command them to attack towns. I chose to just command my squad and the CDF AI command all the other units. It did a pretty good job of taking over towns all by itself. But, this was on "regular" difficulty. Maybe veteran is harder for the AI. I agree about the campaign length. It's very short. I'm not to happy with the RTS style of buying buildings and units. If I wanted to play command and conquer then I'd buy that game. Try playing Regular difficulty, it seems a little more realistic to me. Enemy accuracy is toned down to more realistic level.

Thanks campaign; ok heres a trick to help you in the dark, when you have taken over a town the CDF troops (i think it is :s) move in to secure the town (friendlies). once the troops arrive shoot the leader of the group (guy in middle if they in formation, im pretty sure) and take his night vision goggles :D -- i know what its like in the dark, i got my NV's @4am :o was a long night. cos i didnt think to tk :p more enjoyable; Download user created missions and stuff from this site and armaholic website. much better. Dont give up on the game yet buddy ;)
Joona 10 Posted October 2, 2009 I think is stupid that you cant make high command groups. And buy units in middle of WAR is that realistic. Campaign lenght: very short. I am in Dogs of War got enough of the la...gggg...gg.
Herbal Influence 10 Posted October 2, 2009 Sure there is a High Command mode ... or are you talking just of the Campaign? Campaign .. it's just a trailer to the whole universe of AA2.
Bulldogs 10 Posted October 2, 2009 3) Honestly? Remember, you are not a hollywood commander, you are a squad leader that needs to get the job done at all costs. Firstly, buy empty vehicles so your men can man them, and then if you can't take all the towns with only 2 or 3 tanks (which I find pretty easy to do as long as you're careful) then just send them in as cannon fodder and buy more tanks. kamakazii 10 Posted October 3, 2009 Thanks guys! I appreciate the help. haha yeah i guess I´ll have to assassinate one of my allies in order to get the NV goggles =) DOW is very demanding, I am playing in regular mode though. The most annoying thing in this mission is that one can not hold the captured towns! its so stupid that defences built can only be occupied by you 3 men! i mean what is the point in this defence crap?' if there is no one to man them hahaha? I also in my most recent attempt at beating this mission bought a helicopter...I was much surprised that I cannot fly it! In fact it was unmanned as well, just an empty chopper! WTF!? Anyone else have this problem? ---------- Post added at 06:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:14 AM ---------- VIIBEZ, haha thanks! No i wont give up, I am going to beat it and then play online and download user maps etc. but it would be nice if all the features worked proporly! Bohemia just has not learned since OFP to release games that are finished! Sure i will buy Arma 3, but FFS Bohemia, dont release a Beta product! Here is an idea you might want to try out...have game testers! I am really looking forward to Codemasters OFP 2!
