CSO_Darter2 0 Posted March 27, 2002 I try to connect to a friend's IP and join my buddies for a game. One night I get in with no problems. Most of the time however, I can't even see any games listed at the IP they're at. They say they're all there and waiting for me but I never see the game to join. This is a real pain in the butt to say the least. What gives?? My connection is DSL. I'm using th 1.46 upgrade. PC: 1.7GHZ Pentium4 1g RAM 64 MG Geforce2 XP Home edition. CSO Sulla 0 Posted March 27, 2002 This reply is from CSO GUNNER: The forum seems to be down to all in the US: His post: We are up to version 1.46 and now we can't even connect! The game keeps booting us out after we connect??? I'm sure there is a logical explanation for this problem but I am sick and tired of being denied the opportunity to play this game with my friends. Do you realize how many wasted hours I have spent trying to connect only to be denied when the game arbitrarily kicks us out! Please make sure you fix this problem as soon as possible or the only BIS/codemasters product I will be purchasing will be used as skeets on the range!!! Yours Cordially, CSO_GUNNER
CSO Sulla 0 Posted March 27, 2002 Another reply from somone who cannot access the forum. Dear BIS. Since you seem to be able to fuck up a one man rock fight, how about let someone else fix this game so its full potential can be realised. Your abilities to get a playable product to market seem to be questionable to say the least and you woul have thought with what 6 or 7 patcges now, you woul have the game able to hold a decent con. But NOPE, we stagger on from crashed game to crashed game and discon to discon, with no help from BIS who are to busy doing the Mil Sim to remmeber the probs of the guys who put them there by buying the original game. BIS, U are losing and awful lot of fans and game players due to this !! This game has shown the posibility to be truely great, but these net code SNAFU's really put a downer on the game please fix ASAP or pass on the source code to someone that can, or do we all have to move over to the Ghost Recon community? CSO Sulla 0 Posted March 27, 2002 Hia Placebo, </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Quote (CSO Sulla @ Mar. 27 2002,03:38) - Quote (CSO Sulla @ Mar. 27 2002,03:38) Dear BIS. Since you seem to be able to fuck up a one man rock fight <span id='postcolor'> If you had read the above posts you would know that it was not actually ME you were quoting. I was posting, as the forum was unavailable from parts of the US last night. Ok, now just in case or before, you decide to close this topic, which you seem to do with some frequency, please read the comments. I actually moderate several and admin several forums and find that I have very rarely if ever needed to lock or close a topic. Now several of us from CSO play OFP online. Most of us have played alot of other games online before, most of us also like playing OFP alot. (ok get that we really LIKE the game of OFP) What we do find frustrating is after virtually every patch we have had connection probs. Now all of us (around 15-20) are having probs connecting to people and dedicated servers that we were previously connecting to with absolutely no problems. Out of the blue we just cannot keep a game going. Â Last night I had even reinstalled the entire game - red hammer - patches and then still found we could not connect. Now we are not ex bunny hopping quake players. As a group for example we had a uni student - web designer - Army SFC - Teacher and a museum director trying to connect for a game. We all have sometimes (as most guys on this board I imagine) stressful jobs, we play OFP to relax. What is not at all relaxing is trying for several of our very precious "free" time hours trying to get a game, over and over again and ending up frustrated and annoyed not having managed to actually play OFP once. To be honest conisdering the frustration I am surprised that the complaint was not more strongly worded. Some of us within CSO have been involved in alpha/beta testing other games and some have even gone on to be employed by games companies, so we do know what is involved in getting games to work online and on varying machines. Whats so annoying is that each and every patch has brought another set of bugs and that every patch has caused its own set of connection problems. Ok we realise that given the nature of the gaming industry a game may not work out of the box but we are now on the what, 6th patch ? and the game is still stunningly unstable in MP. How long do we have to wait to get a game that will connect at least 75% of the time? In fact last night we would have settled for a connection that lasted longer than 5 minutes. We all love playing OFP and love the MP aspect of this. What is driving us all towards another game is spending hour after hour of sitting online trying to get a game to actually work as it should. I am sure that a lot of lurkers and others reading this post will relate to this. Do you (placebo) or anyone have any idea as to why the game should suddenly stop connecting for multiple people, with various people trying to host, different dedicated servers all to no avail? This was about 3 days ago and all were/are running the 1.46 patch. Any help or advice will be hugely appreciated. Â Sulla

Just wanted to respond to your points Unfortunately I can't think of what the problem may be, personally I've never had any problems joining or hosting throughout the patches. Perhaps you can give us some more information, do you share computers? Routers/Firewalls? You're all running 1.46 right? Previous to 1.4x you could all play online fine? CSO_Darter2 0 Posted March 30, 2002 FYI... Some things seem to have been sorted out. Sulla found a corrupted file... I don't any details as I have seen much of as of late. I found two problems on my end. One is that I had to disable Zone Alarm from auto launching on start up. Even after shutting it down, once it's started it blocks some ports I need... I also found out my tech supprt person from my office changed my TCP/IP setting and forgot to give me the details or set them back. Sorry for the confusion...
