9thAircav 0 Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) its irrelevant what seetings i set, ive tried absolutely everything since release, nearly every day, to rectify the problem. dodgy software. its a definate my problems are like this video from telejunky just the eminating triangles from "things" http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1441078&postcount=675 Edited October 1, 2009 by 9thAircav
bushlurker 46 Posted October 1, 2009 Wow!! OK - some elements of Telejunky's video look like the overflowing memory issue that all the above advice was supposed to fix, but other bits don't! Those wierd polygons shooting up into the sky, the big floating ones... thats definitely a different issue... It looks a lot like descriptions of some of the ATI problems - except you have an Nvidia... I'm afraid I'm out of ideas on that one... B
Rexxenexx 0 Posted October 1, 2009 Yea that's gotta be a Arma thing. Next time it happens do a Flush. Press LeftShift and - key then let go and type flush. You could try reinstalling DirectX. Any mods running when this happens? That's all I can think of. I would say try other drivers but if the same thing happens to ATI's AND Nvidia's then :P
9thAircav 0 Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) ive tried that flush command, amung a few other things that i shouldnt have to do in the bios. regards the flush - within seconds the problems returned, worse than ever. another flush and it has been ok for about 10 mins, then locked up when i tried to set texture to low. (incidentally when set to low the screen and program refreshes and when setting any other texture setting there after nothing changes, nothing happens. this is utes scenarios, let alone the vast chernarus... actually arma2 by the day is getting worse. close to giving up. iam at the conclusion that its either a DX problem, gtx280 problem ,an nvidia or a BIS problem. so i dont believe its a dx problem. i dont believe its an nvidia problem. my gtx280 is brand new, and works everywhere else. how long will i have to wait to see the fruits of my labour (financial outlay & time spent every day trying to understand whats wrong ???) im sure BIs will see the fruits of there labour given there making more titles . i hear there a small team this and small team that and it takes ages for this that and the bloody next. but BIS wheres the quality assurance !. You really do need it and its not offensive to say so. i thought i was ment to play this software, not bloody well try make my system suit it in one respect or another. its a sad sad show this arma2 is for the people that cant get there enjoyment and wait patiently for somthing that indicates the patches are fixing things. every single one for me has brought a new problem. its just not acceptable. imo. Rexxenexx 0 Posted October 2, 2009 Sucks nothings worked. Your rig sounds good so that's not the problem. We'll have to wait I guess. No joke, every time I play the game I have to fudge with the settings just to be happy with it. Not a great thing. DR hopefully will be the exact "idea" of OFP/Arma -military sim- but one thing is for sure, the engine is going to be 1000 times better. Nothing beats a good engine code! 4 IN 1 0 Posted October 3, 2009 The last time i have this kind of problem I reboot my PC as i assume that I stress the computer a bit too much for playing different games for a long time, I dont know what cause your problem, but did you try replug all your hardware? I had this problem a long time ago in other games with my new PC that time and repluging hardware fix this sort of problem
Cionara 10 Posted October 3, 2009 ArmA 2 runs wonderful on 1.04. When I start new beta via launcher screen fades black ingame and when I start with -mod=beta the pulsing appears. Only way it works right is when using the beta shortcut without using any mods. THen everything is fine and the pulsing only appears when pressing pausing (esc) the game. I ran ArmA2-Mark and couldn't see any performance increase so I stick with 1.
bushlurker 46 Posted October 4, 2009 (edited) You gotta accept a bit of quirkiness with the betas - it's the nature of the beast - that's the main reason why theres such a rigmarole launching 'em as mods, using a different .exe, etc, etc - so you can just switch back to "latest guaranteed" version anytime and main game files don't get touched except by "official" updates... The main reason for the betas is so they get told stuff like... When I start new beta via launcher screen fades black ingame and when I start with -mod=beta the pulsing appears. Only way it works right is when using the beta shortcut without using any mods. THen everything is fine and the pulsing only appears when pressing pausing (esc) the game ... then they'll go try and figure out why - and hopefully fix that before the beta becomes an "official"... However, as far as I know 9thAirCav's problem is the same with beta's OR with vanilla 1.04... It defo looks like the reports of the ATI hassle - but he has an Nvidia, and I'm still stuck for actual practical suggestions :( @Cionara... If you're launching the game using the beta arma2.exe but NOT using the -mod=beta then you're not really using the beta data - just the beta engine... it may well be trying to refer to new commands, or new scripts, or new textures, or new or changed anything - and it will be failing to find them - because it'll be looking in the OLD versions of those .pbo's - not the NEW ones which are in the beta modfolder which you didn't load.. Not exactly how it's supposed to work... May be worth nipping back a couple of pages to this post in case you missed it... and checking that "start in" parameter ?? *edit* and maybe a similar problem? 9thAircav 0 Posted October 5, 2009 well strangely enough ive fixed my problems, it would appear my system does not like all the settings configured seperatly. i simply press very high for the default configuration and the problems go away, returning when i start to customise, post processing seems ok to reset to my preferance (LOW) but when changing textures and shadows thereafter the problems creep back in.
