Few newbie questions about the editor...

Recommended Posts

Hi all and thanks for taking the time to look. I just have a few questions that you experienced editors should be able to answer easily.

1) My friend and I play ARMA II and I like to make custom scenarios for us to try out, just random different scenarios nothing messing around with scripting or anything too advanced. Just a simple fight over a bunker or city or what have you with waypoints. How do I enable the team switch function for use in multiplayer scenarios? (we use hamachi and join each other's games.) I know how to make an entire squad playable, but when I die in my scenarios I seem to have no option to respawn, while my friend on the other hand can re-log in as a different playable slot.

2) Is there away to "loop" waypoints? For example if I want to have a patrol walking about in the woods can I set a move way point on one end of the woods, a move waypoint on the other end and somehow loop the two so that the patrol will continuously walk back and forth through the woods?

3) Is there a way to select multiple units and waypoint them all the to same location to save time? I tried selecting the squad leaders of 3 different squads all at once and giving a waypoint but it seems the waypoint is only given to the first squad I selected.

There is no such thing as team switch in MP. However, you can have the respawn set so if you die, you spawn in the group (if the group AIs are still alive) or on the side (if AIs on the side are still alive).

check this:

Yes, choose from the available list of waypoint types (move, search and destroy, guard etc) CYCLE

No, there isn't.

EDIT:

Wrong forum section. Nex time please post in the PROPER ONE: ArmA 2 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING

Really good answers but another question arises.

I went to my missions folder in ARMA 2 directory and there is no description.ext file anywhere, or is it simply the pbo file that is titled [Mission Name].Chernarus/Utes?

Thanks in advance.

I'd say that description.ext is a must in any mission.

BUT your are right, there is none done for you by the editor. You'll need to create one yourself with a text editor (notepad would do for instance, make sure you save it as .ext). The link provided above covers what can be and should be put in that file
