BF2_Trooper 0 Posted September 15, 2009 It's 1.04 and the crewmen AI still seems buggy in that everytime I as a squad leader enters their APC or Tank they stick their heads out of the hatches and simply refuse to fire anything!!
BF2_Trooper 0 Posted September 20, 2009 Okay, I notice something else that seems to only affect APCs. They refuse to fire sometimes even when I tell them to engage something or fire at will. Is anyone else noticing APC AI crewmen screwing up?
LEEROY_UK 10 Posted September 20, 2009 Yes its very annoying having the crew shot as soon as you get into an engagment . Even when there being shot at they refuse to turn themselfs in ?!!
no use for a name 0 Posted September 20, 2009 I just tried to recreate it but couldn't...there must be something specific that's making them turn out.
Bulldogs 10 Posted September 21, 2009 Technically when you enter a vehicle with only AI you automatically become the commander, so you may have to set them to turn in as soon as you get in, but not sure why they are doing it as soon as you enter.
BF2_Trooper 0 Posted September 21, 2009 I just tried to recreate it but couldn't...there must be something specific that's making them turn out. Play any mission, get a some an APC crewmen under YOUR command as Squad Leader, then enter said APC. Try it in Supepowers or even in the Manhattan mission. ---------- Post added at 11:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:22 PM ---------- Technically when you enter a vehicle with only AI you automatically become the commander, so you may have to set them to turn in as soon as you get in, but not sure why they are doing it as soon as you enter. There is no way to tell them to turn in. I think I found a temporary solution though. Get the crewmen to disembark and re-embark. For some reason, when they re-embark the APC they all turn in and open fire normally at any bad guys. You may have to do it more than once though. If you notice that your crewmen arent moving at all, even if you tell them to go somewhere, then you have to make them disembark and mount the APC again. Bulldogs 10 Posted September 21, 2009 Ahh, I see it now, never had that problem before 1.4 I notice that it's a command problem though. Basically when you enter the vehicle you become in command. They turn out and won't fire unless you tell them to turn in/fire, which you can't do because you're not in the commanders seat. That said you can tell them to forward/reverse/etc. When you tell the commander to get out, then when he gets back in he takes command off you and becomes the new commander, automatically telling them to turn in and handle the firing. You'll notice after that that you can't tell them to forward/reverse/etc 'cause you're no longer in command. An easy fix for it would be for BIS to make it so you never go in command unless you're in the commander seat. I think the only reason the logic is there is so you can be in command from any seat while in a car. ---------- Post added at 01:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:52 PM ---------- I should add that I probably did have the problem prior to 1.4 I just never noticed it for some odd reason. BF2_Trooper 0 Posted September 21, 2009 Yeah, the command seat seems to be what's causing all this. But it seems to happen even AFTER you leave the APC. Sometimes they won't move or engage an enemy even when you as the squad leader are not inside. Again to fix it you gotta make the crewmen (or just the crew commander I guess) disembark and re-embark.
