JackandBlood 10 Posted August 29, 2009 They will inevitably lag behind you, maybe so much as 300m, putting you in mortal harm. Set them to Safe mode (yes it sounds silly). They will still engage and be an effective unit, and they will move at your pace. You can then set their stance to whatever (of course in prone mode they will be slow). In any other mode than safe they tend to lag behind and you may find yourself alone in the woods. Safe mode + go crouch is a good balance of stealth, awareness, and marksmenship. Yes its counter-intuitive to set your men to safe in a combat zone but it does actually work quite well.

NeMeSiS 11 Posted August 29, 2009 Eh, just use 'Aware', they will run after you except during combat when they automatically change to 'Combat', after combat they automatically return to 'aware' mode. Manually changing to 'combat' if you except that it will soon be necessary can give you an advantage early in the fight, but there is no point in doing it when the fight has already started. And if you forget to set them to 'Aware' manually it will take them forever to go anywhere. Safe mode will make them less aware and they will hear/see enemy units slower. (And they still default to 'combat' in combat AFAIK)
