Note for i7 users

Recommended Posts

This only applies to i7 users under Win 7.

Now that the cpucount switch actually works (1.03 Beta Patch), adding

-cpucount=4 to your shortcut will stop the stuttering without the the hassle of disabling HT (at least it did for me).

Cheers

Nice. Thanks for the post, though I haven't yet added the patch. Everything works fine right now and I didn't want to roll the dice. At least they fixed that though.

When you say the 1.03 BETA patch is this a new patch?

I'm using the official 1.03.58627 patch and I've downloaded the 1.03 hotfix as was applied automatically to the Steam version.

Did it make any difference to your frame rate?

Edit: NP found the Beta patch after a quick search.

Try -cpucount=1 :-)

No thanks. Why would I do that when it screams with 4?

I still get noticeable frame rate drop and stuttering with -cpucount=4.

ARMA2Mark is 1000 less with HT enabled and cpucount=4. :(

That sucks. Totally solved my problem.

I also have 12GB and a GTX295 running Windows 7...?

Tried it a few times. With ARMA2 Mark, I get a higher score on my first pass with HT disabled than I do on my 2nd pass with it enabled and cpucount=4. :( 2nd pass, I surpass the mark by at least 1000.

Oh well, maybe next patch. :)

Ran beta and non beta last night testing HT on a Steam installation. There may have been a couple of frames improvement but nothing noticeable on my rig as I managed to get 5140 on ARMA2 Mark where my previous best on 1.03 was 5030. But seeing as it's not a true benchmark, you can't really compare two scores so close.

Never noticed the coloured smoke on the tank walk tho!

Maybe it's 295 related because it has definitely stopped the stuttering for me. This is the first time I can actually say that Win 7 64 (HT on) is actually FASTER than XP 64.
