-RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted August 8, 2009 Seems fairly straightforward to me for anyone to revert to 1.02 if they want.Presuming they backed-up their 1.02 installation as advised in the 1.03 release topic in the News Forum. Planck You can't with Steam. Default is to autoupdate, and I woke up to 1.03..... Man, I wish I bought disks.
Porsj 0 Posted August 8, 2009 I understand people are very delighted with the concept and idea's of BIS, but I think it's worthless when you buy half of a game for the full price. It just does not work that way. Would you buy a car if they shipped it to you in pieces over an extended period of time, so you can actually, properly drive it after a year? After OFP and ARMA, ARMA II is my last BIS game. Goodbye ARMA... hello Flashpoint!! Bad comparison m8... you should google for Kit Cars sometime ;-) Here's a link to help you get started: http://www.marlinsportscars.co.uk/sportster/self-build/ About ARMA2, yes I have issues running it - but yet... the icon... it's so tempting... it just keeps pulling me back, and everytime I get to have a great time... All it needs is a little time, just like ArmA 1 and OFP. Next year it'll blow everything pretty much out of the water. Huzzah for BIS!

And in keeping with this thread, I finally started playing the game this week after purchasing it a month ago (time constraints). After watching all the youtube videos, I am very glad to finally be able to play. I just played my first multiplayer last night, and after all the bad talk I heard about the domination game mode, I thought it was really cool. We all worked together, and those that didn't have mics used commands to communicate. Besides the fact that it took a little long, this was one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had in quite a while.
-RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted August 8, 2009 im talking specifically about the enemy ai, your own squads ai isn't really a problem although it is a little random at times. Well, IMO, they don't move like real enemy at all. From what I would expect. They won't run into a building. (Will this ever be fixed?) The open buildings are laid out for some great close combat in a building, but sadly you can clear buildings in a town. They run down the middle of the street. I've had them run past me. A whole squad of em. You shoot at any of them manning a gun, mortar, etc.... they just sit there. My squad: #2 seems to be in charge all the time and always ignores any order if he just feels like it. Get's everybody killed all the time. Tank drivers will jump out and run instead of driving sometimes. You tell a tank crew to attack a certain piece of armor/light armor, they jump out of the tank and run to the enemy tank. Banzai!!! Gonna stab it with their knives or something. Gunner in helo' / tank will just switch weapon platforms back and forth, one minute your shooting Sabot's at the T-90, the next he's shooting a machine gun. Basically you have to micromanage every little thing with a squad, and even then they will do whatever. Best parts: Graphics: Awesome, Scale: Awesome, Weapons available: Awesome, Logistics: Awesome, Strategic value: Awesome If the AI would just get tweaked to be a tad smarter and basically follow orders consistently, that would be my focus. You can't play this game solo well, you need a squad, but you need a fairly smart squad. Otherwise is just frustration. Optimization was fine for me, until 1.03 but it was fine. Once the hardware/system bugs are figured out and the AI..... Then the glory happens. ---------- Post added at 11:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:14 AM ---------- You can turn off autoupdate. Oh I know, I figured that out, normally updates are a step FORWARD not sorta sideways if not backwards. Least in other updates to games that came down through steam. I turned it off and waiting for 1.04 - I don't have much hair left after 1.03 ---------- Post added at 11:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 AM ---------- Bad comparison m8... you should google for Kit Cars sometime ;-) I'm sorry but this statement is funny as hell. Damn that's funny.
