teach 1 Posted November 27, 2001 Is anyone getting a true speed of sound for rifle fire directed at you over distance? I am using the Audigy card.
RN Malboeuf 12 Posted November 27, 2001 you mean getting hit by the bullet and then hearing the shot? it works for me, seems pretty realistic too (Edited by RN Malboeuf at 9:45 am on Nov. 27, 2001)
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 27, 2001 Same here, it works fine for me. I can hear, see, or feel a bullet hit, and then shortly after that hear a Dragunov or M-21 fire.
Jason Alaska 0 Posted November 27, 2001 In any other game I would call this a bug. But BIS did such a great job on it. Works for me. I'm running OFP 1.30 with a clean install from 1.20. I see an explosion in the distance............ BOOM. I hear it a second and a half later. Just great. I'm running an SB Live! 5.1 card.
teach 1 Posted November 28, 2001 Hmm. Don't know why it isnt working for me. I am using 98SE and an audigy card and a clean install of 1.30 What I'm talking about is this: watching soldiers fire at you over great distances and seeing their muzzle flash followed sometime later by the corresponding gunshot sound. I dont get that. Seems like although these soldiers are far enough away for me have that effect, it isnt working. I see the muzzle flash and hear the gunshot at the same time. What is confusing is that vehicles next to these firing soldiers do have the appropriate speed of sound delay when then explode (i.e. vehicle explodes then seconds later the explosion sound reaches me) I have tried it with HW accell both on and off...makes no difference. Any suggestions? BIS? Bueller?
teach 1 Posted November 29, 2001 What sound cards are those of you using who have this working right? I see one Live 5.
MadDog 0 Posted November 29, 2001 Works fine on my old SoundBastard 64 PCI. I've only ever noticed it since 1.3 though. I was running along a mountain top when a couple of rounds struck near me. I hit the deck and a couple of seconds later I hear two shots from a Dragunov. Excellent. Dave.

Excellent. Dave. <span id='postcolor'> Yes, that is pretty cool. For a real adrenaline rush, try driving around the countryside in an APC/IFV bullet trap and watch the huge muzzle flash from an enemy MBT on a ridge a good distance away. You'll see the flash, shortly thereafter there's an explosion (hopefully not a hit!), and then you hear the boom. This happened to me last night in a Bradley, and at the distance involved and the speed I was going, the enemy missed with the first two rounds. If I had had one of those erratic AI drivers at the controls, we would have been even harder to hit and probably would have survived the third attempt as well.
