hiney 10 Posted July 19, 2009 hey i recently downloaded arma2 (LEGALLY) lol.. and it was running real slow and jerky, i've just ordered a new graphics card because the one i have is a geforce 7100. my system spec is: intel core 2 quad Q6600 - 2.40ghz 2.40ghz 4gig memory (but only 32-bit OS which is vista) 640gig HD ASUS 9800GT 512MB graphics card
v11cu96 10 Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) You'll be fine with the 9800GT, the Geforce 7100 is why it was jerky and slow. I have the same specs as what you posted (except cpu which is an E8500) and the game runs great on medium/High settings with AA and AF enabled. (I run it at 1440x900 resolution) Edited July 19, 2009 by v11cu96

whopper_with_cheese 0 Posted July 19, 2009 my money would be on cpu investment. simulator games, lomac/arma/black shark etc, love a blinding fast processer. the e8600 gave a huge performance increase in arma2 going from 3.33 (Stock) to 4.2ghz so oc the cpu if the new vid card doesnt reap much benefit
Jimmy the Saint 10 Posted July 19, 2009 Of course this is all subjective speaking, but I believe the game should be running fine with your new graphic card. A bit of tweaking should do the trick for the best performace and image quality. I am just a bit concered about your OS, because some people seem to have problems running the game with Vista. But in that case, you can still make a second boot partition with WinXP and DirectX9 for example.
hiney 10 Posted July 19, 2009 im running the premium version of vista, dont know if this makes much difference. i also downloaded the game from steam, i've heard this was a bad idea.. anybody think why?
