nominesine 0 Posted July 12, 2009 I've reached a point where i have to reinstall ArmA2 from scratch to make it work. It's been a long time since I did anything like this. And frankly, I'm nt good with computers (I just happens to like this game a lot). Can someone confirm that I'm about to do things right: 1) I make copies of user created missions/saves/etc 2) I run the uninstall software 3) I manually delete any remaining folders from the previous installation* *) It's the third part that leaves me puzzled. Does ArmA2 place content anywhere else than in Documents and Programs folders? OS is Windows Vista - Home Edition.
horror1 10 Posted July 15, 2009 u dont need to make point 1) just reinstall arma2 and all ur saves and usermissions and ur profile with keybinds are there:) they get not deleted when u uninstall arma2 at least with xp, cant say if its any different for vista but i guess its same. nominesine 0 Posted July 15, 2009 Point 3 is in fact what puzzles me the most. I'd like to get ArmA2 completly out of my system before reinstalling (albeit I want to secure some missions etc on a USB for later use). Are there any other files (apart from the user folder) that remains when I do an uninstall.
Bulldogs 10 Posted July 15, 2009 To get it completely out of your system you have to edit the registry to remove any entries pertaining to Arma 2. You could ask around how to do that, but if you're not very comfortable in editing the registry then you're likely to cause a lot of damage in there and it's best to avoid. nominesine 0 Posted July 15, 2009 No hard feelings, but that information was about as useful as a bullet hole in the back of my head  I am now officially asking around: Original question repeated... (look five posts above)
bhaz 0 Posted July 16, 2009 (edited) ArmA will keep some files under the application data folder, such as people's squad logos, other custom faces, downloaded MPMissions, and a whole bunch of log files etc. It's safe to delete these folders, they'll just be remade by the game. For Vista X:\Users\*\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 For XP X:\Documents and Settings\*\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA 2 Also, registry information (folder path, CD-Key) is kept at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 To delete these, run regedit (Start, Run, regedit), navigate to the appropriate folder and right click, delete. As far as I know the uninstall should've done this for you. Also, careful in here as it can't be undone, and deleting the wrong thing could mess with your computer. Deleting this folder while ArmA 2 is installed will remove your CD-Key, and will break ArmA 2, forcing you to re-install. nominesine 0 Posted July 16, 2009 Roger that! Thanks bhaz. I havent decided if I'm going to fiddle with the registry yet. Hope I don't have to. But now at least I know how it's done, if I should change my mind.
