Do any of the MODULES work on Dedi servers ?

Recommended Posts

Iv'e been trying to get a simple mortar position working that the players themselves can just jump in, use the arty module with the small map to mark their target and fire illumination shells etc on the targetted area dont want or need Ai barages etc, this should be a siple case of just adding an Arty module to the map.

I have a MP version that works fine on a locally hosted server etc. The problem is on our Squads Dedi server none of the content in the missions we've created that utilise the Modules in the editor work, its as if the modules inserted via the editor are just completely ignored by the dedi server when it loads up the maps.

So my question is, do ay of the modules actually work through the Dedi server software at the moment, and if not is there gona be a patch to sort this out ?

Someone inserted Arty MOD'ed artillery into Xeno's Domination and it works without problem on a dedicated server. The main difference between what it says in BIKI and what they've done is that they didn't actually sync the Arty MOD with any of the pieces. It's just there and it works fine.

I couldn't get Arty to work on a dedi, worked like a dream on local though.

edit. I tried not syncing Arty MOD but still not work on a dedi.

Go to the =7CAV= Tactical Realism server, yank their modified Domination and open it up. I've played there and used their artillery, mortars and (back when they had it) MLRS fairly regularly. No sign of bugs except when the guns are knocked out they lose the "Target Artillery" ability.

EDIT: I assume you mean as the gunner of the piece, not trying to request it as a forward observer.

I mean using the radio and calling the arty as per the Module.

Ah OK, that's actually the SecOps Module (SOM) and you are right, it doesn't work in dedicated MP.

do you not need a valid bikey to run mods / addons / or anything else for that matter on dedi ?

A module is not a modification. It's an integrated part of the stock game so I don't see any reason you'd need to have a bikey.

It seems that no atter how much i read, i cannot find anyone who can get the artillary to work on a dedicated server. I can only fire it myself when i am the host.

Does anyone know how to get artillary available to any player on a dedicated server?

Only if you script it yourself without the secops module. That is, call the actual artillery support request functions. Example can be seen in Co06 clear the way

I used cpbo to open Co06 clear the way. I stripped the artillary related content and put it in my mission . (The SOM, artillary, the triggers) . It ran when i hosted. Put it on the dedicated server and no go.

Its possible i ,issed something. The init and all the coding in that mission is superbly done and way beyond me.

Im still stuck.

Has anyone got artillary to work on a dedicated server?

If so, please, write a tutorial for 'dummies' that allows players to call it.

Which version of clear the way did you open? The latest one does not have SOM, it uses a radio trigger and map click to call in the mortars.
