Ofp + battlecom

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have got serious trouble with Ofp and BattleCom 1.32. Here you are the explanation:

a) What I have:

- Win2k Pro + SP2

- Asus A7A266 Motherboard

- AMD K7 1200 (266) + 256 Mb DDR SDRAM

- NVidia GeForce2 Ti with Detonator drivers 23.11

- DirectX 8.1

- SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 with latest drivers

- Ofp 1.46 with all official upgrades

- BattleCom 1.32

b) What happens:

- Sound card is working fine in all cases except:

- I have got sound acceleration on (DirectX control panel). Same happens if it's on Standard or Complete mode.

- BattleCom software is up and running fine (default settings).

- I run Ofp with sound acceleration activated and EAX support on.

- Everytime the game tries to play a sound (mouse click, special effect, player voice, etc.) the voice sound I am receiving from BattleCom stops. After Ofp has ended reproducing the sound (sometimes a bit before it ends), the voice is back. This makes the BattleCom communication unuseful.

- If I turn hardware acceleration off Ofp then everything works and both programs can work together.

- If I turn DirectX acceleration off (or set it to Basic), then the game does not let you use EAX so everything works fine.

- If the game is not running, BattleCom communication is fine.

- It seems to be a problem just on Win2k because other people is having fun on Win98 and SB Live! 5.1, but I am not sure because most of them don't even know their hardware (they are just users, not technicians).

So, I decided to throw this one here and hope someone could help me.

Thanks in advance.

Not a solution but a workaround, have you tried using Roger Wilco instead of BC?
