How would I go about getting a jet to circle around during the mission at a high altitude(to stay clear of AA), until I am ready to get a laser marker up?

If it sees it maybe, I dunno. AI has a mind of its own, but if you want to make sure he breaks out of his cycle use a radio trigger (switch trigger and sync'd to cycle waypoint) and seek and destroy waypoint or something (probably also wanna use flyInHeight to get him lower again).

Not sure exactly what kind of mission you are making or what exactly you have planed for the air strike but wouldn't it be better to just set up a tactical air strike through the SpecOps Module? I think it's possible to set the height some how but I'm not exactly sure. You might want to check the main SpecOps Module thread if this idea would work for you. There's pretty much a basic tutorial on how to set up SOM in that thread so if you don't know how to set up the module check it out.

I find there are many problems with using the SecOps module. First, all the radio messages are in english, so using it for a mission where you play as any faction other than USMC totally kills it. Second, as someone who appreciates the value of hard work (as well as someone who likes to do things my way so that it's done right), using SecOps is cheating... :p

And third, doing it yourself is not only more rewarding, but makes your creation that much more unqiue and this more valuable.

Ya, well for your second reason - using BI's game engine to do a mission is cheating too if you follow that mentality. Go write your own engine and create your own art - then you can really appreciate hard work.

Tieing a feature to one of the main modules means you have better testing and support and possible enhancements through future ArmA II patches.

The fact that you are stuck with English comms though I can see being a problem in some scenarios. This is one area where we could pester BI for improvements to that module.

The cycle waypoint is too loose ... consider someone making an AC-130 - the aircraft has to pull a pretty tight turn. Using the Cycle Waypoint wouldn't be good enough.
