problem. cant run the game on 64bit vista?

Recommended Posts

Ill start from the beginning when i installed the game i downloaded from direct 2 drive it installed fine then said unable to install direct x, im not sure if this is a problem or not. Then when i tried to run the game it says The version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows your runing. Check to see if you need x86(32bit) or x64(64bit) version of the program and contact the publisher. So i started looking around for a fix and downloaded patch 1.02 and it wouldnt install because it said arma2 was not installed or was corrupted so i re installed arma2 and the same thing happened. Im running 64 bit vista and had no problem with the demo (why wont the full game work??) any help would be nice Thanks.

Tx :)

Did you delete the Original A2 directory - not just uninstall but physically delete it?

C:\Progam files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA2 (For example)

and also delete C:\Users\insert your name here\my documents\ArmA2

Did you do this before you reinstalled?

Also, did you unauthorize secuROM? There is a sticky on how to do that here :

Probably not interesting, but did you OC your CPU? Most CPU-intensive programs/games give more errors then a simply CPU-crunch does, becaue latter get's cached.

All in all, games are the worst you're computer can face: It needs a lot of everything.

If not: check your case-circulation, I've worked ages on an old computer of mine, untill it got really hot and eventually fried the north-bridge. Also might want to try and download the latest Direct-X from the MS site, if install gives problem, get the redistribution-file ... it doesn't need extra downloads, since most likely your firewall was blocking previous attempt.

Just put them in C:\DX or whatever you are comfortable with and then locate and run "DXSETUP.exe" from the C:\DX directory :)

I installed the new directX and got the same message after the install bar was about 75% complete.

I'm not sure why the A2 install is failing @ 75% due to DirectX. It's a bit of a strange error.

Try unpacking the A2 install files again.

what many apparently 'in the know' forgot to ask is: are you running Vista x64 SP2?

Dwarden (comm rep for BI) has repeatedly stated this is a must.

Had the same issue (heart breaking..:butbut:) and deleted the downloaded file. Then re-downloaded. Used the Download Manager from DirectDrive the second time... instead of manually downloading from the site. DL no problem and installed no problem. Sheeeesh :yay: catastrophe averted!

Good Luck,

Rave

If it's a digital download, try re-downloading it like Raveone says, otherwise if it's the retail edition and it's constantly freezing in the same place it might be a faulty disc.

Make sure uac is disabled as well (uac often bugs out and blocks things from installing without prompt)

I'm running a steam version on Vista 64 with no issues.

My squadmate is running a D2D version on Vista 64 and he hasn't had any either.
