Alexrey 10 Posted July 6, 2009 So far while playing warfare, I've only noticed the enemy AI defending each and every town I come across, but they never seem to mount an offensive against my base or towns that my team has captured. So my obvious questions are: 1) Why are there enemies in every town I come across, how'd they get from their base to the town before me? They're even in the towns closest to my base. 2) Does the enemy ever build units, and come and attack my base and try to re-take towns that I've captured? Alex72 1 Posted July 6, 2009 In ArmA1 i think it was done that way that the AI start close or inside towns so you get to fight to take them. Not to be some unrealistic "teleport", but for you to have some to do. That you are needed to fight to take and then defend what youve taken. I might be wrong as i dont play WARFARE, but from when i played some in ArmA1 i got that feeling. Maybe changed in ARMA2. In ArmA1 the AI did in fact build units and sended them our way. There was RACS wich were the ones close or in towns and i dont know if they built units, but the opposing force did. Alex
Nostalgia 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Hello Alexrey, The AI which you are attacking are not the main opposing force, but rather the 3rd side in the Warfare mode: independent guerrillas (non-playable). The independent guerrillas are located in every single uncaptured town/city and are usually poorly armed. The independent guerrillas will attack both Russia/Insurgent and US/CDF, so be careful. The independent guerrillas also look similar to the Insurgent troops. They will also try to retake captured towns if the opportunity presents itself. Towns/cities which are under independent guerrilla control are marked green, while towns/cities under Russian/Insurgent control are marked red, and towns/cities under US/CDF control are marked blue. Alexrey 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Oh okay cool, I've found a few green and red controlled towns so far. Do the opposing AI ever make organised massed attacks on towns like my AI team does? Because a lot of the time I'll roll into town with like 3 LAVs and about 4 Hummers (that aren't in my squad). But the most I've seen of the opposing red team is a T-72 and about 2 other light vehicles. :/ Guess I gotta wait for them to build up a sizeable force. Nostalgia 10 Posted July 7, 2009 Hmmm, The AI on your side and the enemy's should react the same, albeit with different amounts of resources the amount of vehicles/equipment varies between your team and the opposing forces. At the start of a Warfare game, the AI teams usually split up and take two to three cities at one time. But, I would guess that the number of teams is randomize unless there is a factor which makes one town/city more important than another. Possibly, the opposing force that you were facing were concentrating their attack on a town elsewhere and the remaining troops, in the town you were attacking, were just guarding. I have not witnessed the enemy AI attacking, in mass, a single town frequently, but it usually happens if you have captured the towns near their HQ, thus their only option is take the town closest to them with all their might. An example of a desperate plan of course. As such, it could also happen to you, if they captured all the towns and/or your HQ has been found they would attack your HQ. Overall, I would say their attack plans are pretty randomize, but usually they attack the towns closest to them and, if under attack, defend them too. But, if you really want the opposite team to mass-attack you for no reason, get someone to play on the opposite side as the commander and you'll have a fun time. :D Yep, given time and resource, the other team should have many tanks/light-medium armored vehicles for you to destroy. Master gamawa 0 Posted July 7, 2009 I finished the campaign a week ago and Warfare wasn't worth the effort to be honest. Still I have a question. Does it make sense that the game expects you to win the whole map using 12 units? It's not that I couldn't do it... it was just repetitive and tedious. Running back and forth between villages to retake a strongpoint. I don't know. It doesn't make sense. Oh, an the enemies attacked me personally twice during the whole last mission. Nostalgia 10 Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) Hello Master gamawa, When I spoke about Warfare I was discussing the Warfare mode in the multiplayer maps Superpowers, Civil War, and War Welcome, not the campaign Warfare mode which I have not played. In the missions listed above, you have 7 or so separate AI teammates, the slots can be filled by players instead of AI, who can have their own squads of 12 of so and take over towns and cities nearest to them. I'm not sure if the campaign Warfare mode has the 7 or so separate AI teammates, but if not - :butbut:. Edited July 7, 2009 by Nostalgia
