Adramelech 10 Posted July 2, 2009 i got ARMA II off steam and i think i'm a decent novice, i'm not new to this sort of FPS, i used to play typhoon rising in a garage with like 9 other people when i was younger.... but yeah, ARMA II isn't very user friendly, sure its deep, but this also means it's very cumbersome, i've managed to reach the part in the campaign where one of my squad members has been killed and i'm to hunt a warlord in the area, i have access to helicopters and i think APC's or whatever, i'm sure you know what i'm referring to. anyway, i read about this mission in a handful of reviews before i made my purchase, getting transported around by a helicopter to scout new terrain, the idea sounded fresh and fun, although, when i ordered my team to get into the chopper, one of my squad mates decides everytime rather then just getting in the helicopter, to run into the tail propeller (i don't know the technical name please don't hurt me) and well, he just keeps running into it, until he dies, then the scroll wheel active menu thing gives me an option of transport, but i have no idea how to direct the pilot, tell him where to go, where to land, even to take off he just starts the engine and i can't do anything, its killing me, because i'm so excited about playing this title after hearing so much positive reviews, but having my teammate suicide in a retarded manner and not being able to find the menu to direct the AI pilot is killing me, so i have come to the forums to ask how is it done, i assume maybe somehow with the map? how do i talk to the taxi driver? Providence 10 Posted July 2, 2009 I also have similar problems. I've just started the game sort of, and I just became the Team Leader, and used the Venom for the first time to get to Dressler. After I've talked to Dressler and he has given me the X-marks on the map, and after recalling the Chopper for extraction, this is the problems I get; When the choppers arrives and I order my men into it, the chopper takes off leaving me behind (no, I'm not slow, I can't even interact with it at all.) and goes up about 100 meters where it stays and hovers. If I try to disembark my team, the chopper comes down (note; it doesn't even land on the landingpad, even though that's where I'm radioing from, it lands close to or on top of one of the tents.) and stays there. After that, I actually manage (after some tries) to get my entire team and myself into the chopper. Here I encounter another problem; I can't go anywhere. When I open my map and click on a location for the pilot to take us, nothing happens. (It worked the first time when it took me to Dressler's camp?) Also, I actually managed once to get to one of the crosses on the map by stealing a Humvee. But as I approached the camp marked on the map, my screen went white instantly. The only thing visible was the indicators in the corners showing my teammates locations. I could hear everything going on, and the Corpsman was even next to me healing me (as I had been shot running in there blind), but the screen never turned back. kylania 568 Posted July 2, 2009 Have you tried to get into the chopper first, then have your squad mount? Get in the helo, press Backspace, then ~ (to select the whole squad), then Mount, your vehicle.

If I do, one or more members just say "Negative" and refuse to enter at all.
Horrace 10 Posted July 2, 2009 Ok this happened to me aswell. What you need to do is press . (on keypad) this will change to an over head command mode. Press - (on keypad) to zoom your view out. Now select the solider who is getting his face cut off and order him to move away from the chopper (by clicking on the ground) then keep ordering him to move quite wide right around the chopper until he's at the side. Then order him to get in. Once all your team are in then board yourself. Now open the map (M) press space select communication / support / transport / transport(active) now click where you want to fly to on the map. Done.
BoxiouS 10 Posted July 2, 2009 If I do, one or more members just say "Negative" and refuse to enter at all. After you've entered, press num-pad '.' next to enter (tactical view) and then tell 'all' to enter transport. This usually works. Worth keeping in mind for other vehicles too. As for one member of the team walking into the tail of the chopper. I know how stupid it looks and it's a real immersion killer, and gives you zero faith in the AI (although they do tend to redeem themselves on occassion) Best bet is (before you enter the chopper) send your whole team to the other side of it and get them to enter from that side. Adramelech 10 Posted July 3, 2009 thank you for your feedback, i figured out the third person view, in fact its quite useful, you don't get as much motion blur while running and you have a slightly wider field of view, which is really handy, i actually tried walking my team to the other side of the heli, but i didn't mention it in my first post, the concept worked, sometimes i just rather select the retarded stray and manually put him in the heli, i didn't know about the tactical command view, again thank you so much for your feedback horrace and boxious, its been really helpful. i'll come back when i've successfully been transported
