Vista or Windows 7 Seriously which performs better?

Recommended Posts

Many people are considering upgrading to Windows 7. I am asking the question:

Is the performance differential between Vista and Windows 7 great enough to make the switch?

I haven't ran ArmA II on Vista, but I've seen several people around here say that it's a good deal faster than Vista for ArmA II. Overall however, Windows 7 is much more stable and nicer to use OS, so on that merit alone it's worth a shot.

I have 3 OS on my pc.

Vista 32

Windows 7

XP Sp3

All tested:

Arma runs better on XP without doubt.

Vista 32 the worst

Cheers

much more stable? i've never had a stability issue with vista - ever.

i think people pay too much attention to propaganda and those mac adverts... i think the only reason it's performing better is because win 7 drivers are mostly still in beta RC stage. should (hopefully) get better around launch - or i certainly wont be upgrading to 7.

Works great in Windows 7 RC 7100. I haven't had any issues.

I haven't had any driver issues with Win 7, in fact 7 is great on updating your drivers for you (even the correct versions!).

I recommend grabbing the cheap $49.99 Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade from newegg.com or Amazon before the sale ends in about a week, you won't be sorry!

You die hard XP fans will be making a very ignoramous mistake by not jumping on this and paying $49.99 instead of $119.99 down the road... I'm just saying...

And if you are sceptical, grab the free Release Candidate and give it a shot by installing it on a separate partition and dual-booting your system, I guarantee you will be "single booting" into Win 7 within a week.

I spent two months running Vista about 6 months after it came out. I tried it again last year with Service pack one. Both times it was incredibly slow and froze up all the time, and when I switched back to XP, it ran fine. Windows 7 is more stable than either Vista or XP, and has been since the Beta release (I've been using Windows 7 Beta/RC exclusively since Christmas, so it's not as if I just tried it in passing and jumped to conclusions)

And by the way, I fucking hate Macintoshes :)

Vista has been stable as a rock for me. Win7 RC has been stable as a rock. Windows 7 is like a cleaned up Vista with some nice UI enhancements. Basically, it's what Vista should have been originally.

Get it.
