Richie72 10 Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) I am currently using an AMD Athlon x2 6400+ 3.2GHz cpu to run ARMA2. On campaign I can get around 15-20fps but it sometimes dips to low teens. In MP I get around 25-30fps. I run everything on Very High except AA (low or normal) and Post Processing (low, but that's just preference). My GTX260 192SP can handle that without a problem. Can anyone tell me if it would be worth spending £240 on an AMD Phenom Quad Core 9950 Black Edition running at 2.6GHz cpu and a new MOBO. I want to get more fps from this game without compromising on the looks of it graphically. In actual fact, changing the graphics to low makes no substantial difference to fps anyway. My actual question is, How much difference would a new CPU make? Edited July 1, 2009 by Richie72 Missed out a bracket
Balschoiw 0 Posted July 1, 2009 I guess right now Arma 2 in some cases even runs better on 2 cores than 4 cores. I have an Intel 9550 @ 3.4 Ghz and it doesn´t run that good. I still think Arma 2 needs tweaking and optimization to make it run better on a system with 4 GB RAM, a 280 GTX with 1 Gig Ram and Windows Vista Ultimate. Right now it doesn´t run that excellent. cr0wn3r 10 Posted July 1, 2009 I'm running on a Quad core Q6600, 8800GTS, and Vista with 4gb ram. Everything stock clocked. And I'm getting good framerates throughout on 1600x1200 with all settings on full except AA. It works all 4 cores. Performance seems partly luck of the draw than just down to specific specs. Some combo's seem to work well, like mine. While other people with faster specs on paper are getting poorer results. Having said that, if you can afford to upgrade, can't see why you shouldnt :) Thats always my rule of thumb..
