Assistance Please :)

Hello everyone, ok well im about to dive into the complicated world of addon making, and my first objective is to create a jeep, which will need to have a turret for a 50 cal.

Could someone please explain to me the exact software that i will need to achieve this.

O2 is what i'll need to create the jeep right? im not sure lol

Next, i'll need to create textures for the jeep. How the hell do i do this lol?

Do i need to make the turret and guns seperate from the jeep in order for them to work?

Then, i'll need to create a config right? OMG!!!! :eek:

To make this part easier for me, could i use arma 2 default humvee config for my jeep?

All of this project will be my first experiance at creating an addon, so all the advice and tips i can get would be awesome :D

Please please please help me lol, i need some of you geniuses to help a fellow member of this fine comunity :D

I have heared of blender, but ive never used it, but with my new interest in addon making, i will defiently download this software.

I use blender sometimes and its pretty easy to get stuff into O2 from it (you will eventually need to do this before finishing your mod). Not the best person to ask about vehicles but you will eventually need a config file to get it all in game, the config will tell the game which side the jeep is on, fuel and armour values (AFAIK) among other things. With the model, i would guess that with the gun you can just define it as being one (not sure of the proper definition in ARMA2) and it SHOULD work fine.

That is a pretty vague outline of a couple of the things you will end up doing, hope it is a little bit useful (even if it just tells you what you are up against) :)

Edit: Just wanted to know, does anyone know when the tools will be out for arma 2, and what they are, and what they will be used for during the addon process :)

Ive heared a few people talking about these (tools), but im not sure what they will be..

It would appear that the ArmA tools allow you to do everything you need at this stage, with some workarounds. BIS will be focusing entirely on support and patches for the community over the coming months, to ensure everyone gets to enjoy the fun. Then they will turn their attention to any support the addon developers need. For the moment I think we have plenty to work with, for example the new shaders can give excellent results using the current tools. It is possible that, in time, BIS will release some or all of their source models for the game assets, which will assist even further.
