Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 11, 2002 I have had OPFP loaded for about 3 weeks. I am still trying to analyze the metes and bounds of the AI. Unlike other last generation combat games (Delta Force), the enemy sons 'o' bitches in OPFP will stray from their assigned waypoints and come after you. Yes, the thrill of the chase. In one single player mission, I was trapped in a small forest as several tanks circled about knocking down trees and all sorts of things to get at me. In another, I was picking off the enemy with me sniper rifle from some hill overlooking the town. As I was crawling to another bush, I came up behind some SOB who had snuck up the hill and was lying in wait to kill me. I joyfully popped him in the arse a few times with my M21. This game should be renammed to FUN. Are there any civilians in this game? I have not seen any so far.
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Oh fiddle feck! I meant to say "renamed."
Gaswell 1 Posted March 11, 2002 There aren't that many civilians in the 1985 campaign, but there are quite a few in Red Hammer. Nasty lot, if you ask me.
walker 0 Posted March 11, 2002 I know what you mean. I was doing a beta test on my own Sainte Marie Hill mission. I have my 1st and 2nd plattoon up the hill. I am up to the top of the hill with the complete section of 12 soldiers and all four of my sections bradleys. Only Bravo section of my 1st platoon destroyed and foxtrot section has all 9 soldiers of its section. My heavy weapons platoon section of third platoon is hiting the southern flank of the hill. and taking out the shilkas. So I have called in the attack hellicopters for final assault it is perfect. For only the second time I am gong to complete my own mission. I crawl to the lip of the ridge and throw some smoke. I turn round to look where the rest of my squad are and facing me is an enemy with an AK. Fumbly moment slapping the space bar to change weapon. I also right click over him to let my section know he is there. In case one of them can get him first. One of them does. Unfortunately it happens to be a bradley and blows us both to s**t. It took me quarter of an hour to stop laughing.
DaCrytter 0 Posted March 11, 2002 I have had similar encounters with AI. I have just an encounter with an enemy squad in a wooded area...can't remember which mission....and they have be eliminated. So I thought. I was doing a brief search to make sure, and I came round a tree, through a bush and found myself face to face with an enemy soldier. The little swine had tried to flank us! When he saw me he stopped, raised his gun...but didn't fire. Maybe his trigger finger got stuck? Needless to say, my trigger finger had no such trouble
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 11, 2002 DaCrytter and Walker: Enjoyed your "war stories." Are there any fan sites out there where we can download custom missions? I have not had time to mess with the mission editor but I am sure folks out there have constructed some good missions. Also, when you create a custom mission, do you run it from the OPFP "Single Player Mission" page or do you have to run it from the Mission Editor program? In Microsoft Air Combat Simulator II (Pacific Theater), you can launch custom missions from the mission editor. In Delta Force, custom mission show up in the list of single player missions. I would like to download some custom missions.
Bonfire 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Fun, you said it. Sometimes when i don't feel like doing organized missions, i partake in the "great vehical toss"...set up a bunch of satchel charges under tanks or bmps and let fly....50 charges send a BMP into orbit...i think, i never found the remains
DaCrytter 0 Posted March 11, 2002 try http://www.3dactionplanet.com/flashpoint I have a mission in that site myself. It's called AT Team. Feel free to download it  Also try http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com Have fun!
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Can you take prisoners in OPFP? My guess is that you can't but the video "trailer" shows a GI taking a tank soldier as a prisoner. I want to round up a bunch of prisoners and execute them. Somebody please clarify this. Can you take prisoners? DaCrytter: I will check it out. Bonfire: The "Great vehicle toss"? That sounds like fun. Are you Canadian? I see the flag. I see that Rush will be releasing a new album in May. I am looking forward to that plus the tour. LordZach 0 Posted March 11, 2002 you can take prisoners if they run out of ammo and you push them with your feet to where you want them, or you could put a script in
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Lord Zach: So you can take prisoners....I need more info. Have you taken prisoners, and what did you do with them? Has anyone else taken prisoners? Â Remember folks, I want to take prisoners and execute[\b] them. I need to know how. Help me out here folks.
LordZach 0 Posted March 11, 2002 the waiting for them to run out of ammo was supposed to be a joke. when they run out of ammo, they usually just go prone and stay there forever. if you run at them you can usually move them minorly. for the scripts, i'm not the one to ask. it's been awhile since i've made any missions so i'm a little rusty. Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 11, 2002 LORD ZACH: oK. I will continue to explore this issue. Perhaps I should not call them "prisoners" since I plan to execute them. Perhaps I should call them "hostages." <snicker> I am beginning to think I should forget this.
walker 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Dear Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans There are lots sites with free missions to down load. Some require additional addons (new vehicles or guns or even new islands but the better ones tell you where you can get these) Check the site you are on now on their links page for fan sites several of them have missions or even whole campaigns to download. Check the missions page of this forum there are links to peoples missions beta tests and even whole campaigns. OFP Edit Centre has a beta testing area if you want to download cutting edge missions. The beta of my mission is hosted there. OFP Editing Centre Beta test forum I personaly use this czeck site to download missions from ofp.gamezone. but there are many more Like I said check this site's links page On prisoners the answere is yes but it needs scripting the command is SetCaptive (True/False) go to the Edit Centre home page and into the various sections and learn how to script read the command references and Johan Gustafsson’s scripting guide Abu's Guide etc. I suppose it could be a generic script based on a triger if unit has no ammo and player knows about unit and is less than a certain distance set status to prisoner make him follow the player or go to prison whatever. (what about tanks and aircraft though?) There is allready a script to make a unit follow another or you could set a waypoint Beware somone may have allready created the script have a search of this forum and others. Hope this is of help
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 12, 2002 Thanks Walker. I saved your note to a text file for future reference. It will be a while before I venture to the mission editor. I am having way to much fun right now. Tales
