I always play it! Back to OPF. I have been making a mini war that does not go on like F4, but there are so mamy options to do in my opf war. I have scripted it so there are so many options to fight the war. It has been made that you decide what to do as you  would in real life. Unlike F4 you have to do set missions, my opf war leaves it up to you to make desions on what type of missions to do. My website will be up very soon with this war.<span id='postcolor'> Chill that sounds great, I look forward to trying it
dayglow 2 Posted March 15, 2002 Unbelievable, the depth of this game continues to suprise me. The idea that the dynamic battle field is closer than I thought. Maybe a grand-scale war isn't possible, but an almost semi-dynamic campaign is. How about this: All these people are able to do a map where there are a finite number of dynamic missions going on; how about linking these maps together into a larger campaign. The idea is that may be the struggle is centered around a couple towns, and the dyamic scripts cause the flow of battle in one way or the other, then when a certain point is reached there is a pause in the game, cut-sense, etc and the player moves on to the next map that is set up for the next phase of the battle. This way the map/campaign maker has more control, not having to rely on the engine in making stratigic decisions, but at the tatical level the game is dynamic. Interesting, I can't wait to see how these different attempts at making the game more alive turn out. On another point, for the people that say charactor hoping wrecks the 'human' side of the game. I don't think I've ever became attached to charactors in a game. Never been a RPG fan, so maybe that's why. I can't tell you the name of my squad mates from the main campaign, also Ghost Recon annoys me with it's roleplaying with skill points. I don't keep people alive because I feel attached to them, I have to to keep them at a competent level. for me moving around and charactor hoping allows me to build a story for myself in my head. I'm not the charactor, but the 'guilding spirit' of the war effort. Just a different way to look at it. COLINMAN
walker 0 Posted March 15, 2002 Oligo I am also making large batles all though not to the half batalion level. I have a company battle download at Sainte Marie Hill 90+ American Marines of a Mechanised company attack to capture a hill that dominates the beach heads. Has artilery from player and AI Attack helocopter support call etc. I would love to play your mission can you tell me where to download it. I know that this is real bleeding edge use of the OFP engine. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"><span id='postcolor'>
XtremeX19 0 Posted March 15, 2002 now i havent read all of this thread, and thats prob gonna make me look like an idiot with this idea, but if a dynamic campaign were to b created, couldnt u have the surviving units from the previous mission fight from mission to mission, that way a retreat from a city to save a couple of grunts is actually a sound decision. and as for mission diversity, yes i do see how missions could get to be the same after a while, but it is possible to have varied missions. for example, when invading one island you could be given only so many grunts and armor, if any, and be given so much air support. but to make the air support useful, you must use the grunts to take out the AA, but to do that u must destray the enemy armor, which is best destroyed with air. as you can see, this would create a visious cirlce (sum literary term i learned in English class, its also known as catch 22, or damned if u, damned if u dont), but would be winable, just with a lot of thinking.... back to the shadows, where i belong. o ya, and this all sounds great, but i need to keep on saving up for a comp that can actually support that....
