jch5pilot 10 Posted June 26, 2009 (edited) Hello, I am having a few problems with the demo. I managed to download and install it all ok, but the performance I get out of the game on my machine is not very good, although that may be down to my system specs which I will post below. I can run the graphics on low to increase performance, however the main problem is that most things appear multi-coloured. For example the grass looks green, blue, red, yellow and so on, same for smoke, for example when you fire your weapon. Has this been reported by anyone else or is there a likely solution to this problem? Any help will be appreciated. HotSauce_AWC 10 Posted June 26, 2009 I'm having this problem on the same setup. Looks like this:
jch5pilot 10 Posted June 26, 2009 Hello, Thanks for the reply. Below is a link to a screenshot showing what I see, which is very similar to yours. http://i714.photobucket.com/albums/ww148/jch5pilot/Games/armacolour2.jpg In a firefight, it becomes practically unplayable as you only get a screen full of flashing multi-coloured blocks as weapons are fired and dust behind moving vehicles etc. James
nodunit 397 Posted June 26, 2009 Hay we all have the same problem! http://img268.imageshack.us/i/lightshowd.jpg/ I think in that case we should discuss our specs, compare and maybe come to a conclusion, right now I'm starting to draw a 7 series flaw since your (jch5pilot's) video card is the 7900GS and mine is the 7300 GT. Nothing else 'matches'.
HotSauce_AWC 10 Posted June 27, 2009 My specs: AMD 3800 2.4 ghz 2GB RAM 256MB GeForce 7900GS Windows XP
nodunit 397 Posted June 27, 2009 So we all have 2 gigs of ram, windows XP and 7 series cards, it can't be processors, I only have a 2.7ghz single core. I'm fairly certain it is the 7 series cards, do either of you by chance have any other cards or friends with 7 series cards that could test this as well? HotSauce_AWC 10 Posted June 27, 2009 I haven't tried updating drivers yet. Perhaps I'll give that a try.
HotSauce_AWC 10 Posted June 27, 2009 Updating to the 186.18 drivers fixed the graphics glitches for me. Game still runs fairly slow, however. If any 7900 users have some tweak tips, let us know please.
nodunit 397 Posted June 27, 2009 I tried updating my drivers but from what I can see it's not exactly existent, anything I've done has done nothing. Though as for the slowness of the video I think it would be better we just upgrade altogether, the 7 series is quite old by standards.
propatriamori 10 Posted June 28, 2009 Having the same problem with a 7800GT. Some textures don't show up and there are rainbows in place of foliage, some other objects, and environmental effects like smoke, wakes, and muzzle flashes. I really can't play the game. ---------- Post added at 07:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:26 PM ---------- Double posting so I can subscribe to the thread. I have a friend who programs (not for BI) and he says it sounds like something to do with a faulty compatibility code path based on hardware ID/driver versions. Since you guys have updated your drivers, hopefully there's compatibility code that can be patched on BI's side. Crossing my fingers that this gets fixed in a patch. I really don't want to build a new computer--yes, this one's 5 years old, but it still runs just fine.
hsvmann78 10 Posted June 29, 2009 @Hotsauce AWC, Good call, updating drivers to 186.18 did the job. Multi-colour flora and smoke/dust is normal coloured texture now. For Vista 32-bit users download and install: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_32bit_186.18_whql.html might be time to upgrade the vid card though, fps is almost bare minimum with 7950gt :j:
