View Distance in Multiplayer

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I've been messing around a bit in multiplayer (demo version) recently and I can't seem to change my view distance at all. It makes no difference where I put my slider...which is extremely annoying. The AI can somehow see and shoot into a town that I can't even see when I'm standing beside them. This is going to be next to impossible trying to fly and jets and attack targets if I can't see towns that are less than 2km away.

I had the same issue in ArmA1, but I fixed that by just getting a mod that allowed me to change my view distance on the fly.

Does anyone have any solutions to this? Co-op will be next to no fun if I can't see anything :(

Specs:

e6850 @ 3.0ghz

4gb RAM

768mb 8800GTX

Vista 32bit

*edit* Forgot to mention that this was on a friend's locally hosted server, and my locally hosted server.

In MP the mission/server sets the viewdistance to prevent players with a highend system to get a unfair advantage.

The AI can also see just as far as the servers/missions viewdistance!

So say my friends and I wanted to play on a locally hosted map...something like evolution unlocked (when it's released for the game). View distance is important for stuff like that so you can actually see what you're attacking. It's going to be impossible to bomb/strafe targets completely blind.

There has to be some way around this, the game feels so ridiculously bland at such a tiny view distance. There's no immersion when you're surrounded by fog.

Can someone that has the full retail game please shed some light about changing view distance in coop multiplayer?

Also, if I were to own an actual server, would I be able to manually set the server's view distance?

Any help would be vastly appreciated!
