Lost ability to switch between team members and control them : Normal?

Just started the Badlands missions and I have found that I no longer have the ability to switch between team members and the leader in order to directly control them. I found this useful previously for moving my guys precisely where I wanted them to go.

Is this loss of this ability supposed to happen or is it a bug of some sort?.

Yep, check the Official mission forums, but its not a bug.... Its a feature!

Because in the previous missions you could switch squad members, just strange that all of a sudden you can't now when you get to the Badlands missions.

Whether you can do it in real life or not, I'm really not interested in. :rolleyes: :D

Its not irrelivant its key factor, and like many games arma doesnt dump all its features at begging of campeign, it slowly introducing such features to you.

Yes of course many games do not dump all their features on you at the start of a campaign.

Yes of course such features are slowly introduced to you as you progress through the game and campaign.

Key factor?. No - The key factor is that the ability to switch between squad members was introduced at the start of the campaign, the player then notes that this is possible. Then, a few missions on, the same ability simply "vanishes" from the menu options with no warning or any indication that it has done so until you go to use it and you find you cannot.

Again, going back to the "In real life you would not be able to do that....." thing, of course you would not!!!. :cool:

But I was simply asking why initially this ability was introduced and then abruptly removed a few hours gameplay further on.

I'm not questioning whether it is realistic or not, that's absolutely not the point here.

Anyway, my question has been answered it would appear. So the ability to swap between squad members can be used for the first couple of missions and then it becomes unavailable. Not an issue for me at all, I just wanted to check if it was supposed to happen, hence my initial question.

ctrl+spacebar. If you see faces at the bottom of your screen you are giving orders to your team. If you see symbols you control the entire army.

kidna bugged me too that i couldn't switch team mates. I wanted to switch to the sniper so i could shoot hte gunners on the pickup trucks before i send in the meat shields to take the town.

I ended up just swapin' weapons with the sniper and did the shootin on 'cooper.

Hmmm, I think I might need to apologise there Draeger, it is a bug indeed, the feature was my sarcasm at play. You should be able to control your characters, the only way that works for me "sometimes" is to shoot my boys in the knee, and then heal them.

The thing i hate about this mission is that its so easy to die, you have to wait for your army squads to capture it rather than razor team :(
