Question regarding the gameplay.

Pardon me for being so uninformed when it comes to some of these basic questions. I am new to the ArmA series, and this shall be my first.

Is the single player game a sandbox type of game or do you select mission -> Loading screen -> complete mission -> Loading screen -> Mission Results screen, then to a new mission. I am not quite sure how that works, though I think it would be cool if they had an open-world for a game like this.

It's a mix of the two. It has missions, but a lot of them are sandboxish.

The sandbox aspect of ArmA2 comes from the ease and variety of missions that can be created by you or by others. All play happens inside a mission, (a.k.a. scenario) one way or another.
