Alienfreak 0 Posted June 24, 2009 One thing I can't make out in ArmA 2 is how you give orders to an AI to go from one position in a vehic into another. Like making it go from passenger seat to the gunner position. The only thing that works for me is that you can change to a position and then go to the position the AI currently occupies it goes to exactly that position you were before. But this only works well in tanks where each position can have only 1 member. Unlike cars.
nzjono 10 Posted June 24, 2009 (edited) I know in Arma 1 it was easy through the menu select but Arma 2 seems to have done away with that option as far as I can see. Its a real pain. They may have just moved it to a different menu selection branch but I cant find it. You also cant order your men to scan a particular direction or go prone etc as you could in Arma 1. This robs you of useful squad tatics, although perhaps the have increased the AI enough that they can act for themselves more and thus need less babysitting? Hmm that may be it.... Ya you can, you press 3 and then press the button for scan horizon. You can also hold ALT and click to make them watch that direction. Everything that was in arma 1 is still here. Everything that was in arma 1 is still here. Great, thanks for that I was looking for the command for ages :) How do you tell them to enter a vehicle as a driver or gunner? I dont seem to be getting the option of where to place them in the vehicles? How can I make my AI go prone etc?
Ketamine 10 Posted June 24, 2009 Prone etc is there as well, can't remember the number button off the top of my head, but just go through 1 to 0 on your keyboard cancelling each time with backspace and you will see all the options. You can manage your squad very nicely with the new system. However, as the OP suggests, i can't find the 'get in seat' or 'move to seat' for the AI either. Anyone found it? FraG_AU 10 Posted June 25, 2009 No I haven't found that either.. I just tend to switch squadmembers if I would rather do the driving, or once you're in the vehicle you can usually switch positions. As for stances, i think its in menu 7.. Good one is "Stay Low", althought probably badly named they follow the leaders stance.. So you stand, your squad stands, you go prone, your squad is prone. Tammej 10 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) It's [select all] 4-2-and there you chose where they are supposed to go. 1 is anywhere, 5 is somewhere in the back, for example. Oh, this only works if you are already in the vehicle. I always enter first, so I can chose where I wanna sit. If you enter after giving them the enter command first, they usually complain and just stand there, or one of them does. Go prone is [select all] 7-8. 7-7 is crouch. Do-as-you-do is "Stay alert", 7-3 I believe. Not sure if it's a bug, but if you ever tell them all "Danger!" with 7-2, and then you tell them to return to formation, they just ignore it and stay prone or play cards, ... they will be useless until you revoke "DANGER!" by telling them either to "Be alert" (7-3) or "Clear". Ever trying to tell them to be stealthy has become also useless as well. Instead of silently remaining prone, they keep standing up running to wherever you want them to go, only difference is they run one at a time while the others provide cover. It's kinda cool, and totally dumb if you really just want them to be absolutely quiet. Edited June 25, 2009 by Tammej

You can select all by just using the "~" key.
