Thats about the same settings I use for my new ati 4870X2 and get the same fps.

yea sorry rushed, ahd to go out. i had a 4870X2. but so much hassle swapped to n vidia (arma 1)

Current release 186.18. In order to be able to select all the video menu options (Video Memory to very high for example) - I have had to set a memory limit to 4096 in the MSconfig utility.

182.52 will allow you to use those settings and also reports your video RAM correctly.

I'm using these 190.15 Betas.

Not tried the 185's so I dunno if they're better but they work well for me.
