I would imagine it's the Opf checker built into the patches that's throwing up these crc errors, best guess would be a complete uninstall then reinstall of the game, then before using any patched run the Opfchecker (you can get it hereCheckOFP_1_20.zip) Make sure it's happy with your virgin installation, once it is start patching smile.gif

If it's not then you have a problem, let us know if that's the case smile.gif

Hmmm I think I just went and made a completely useless post after reading your original post again.......

IIRC the 1.4* patches introduced a new version of Safedisc2 which is why some people are having problems patching, have you tried a fresh install, then using patch 1.46 only?

it was a good though i tried a fresh install and then trying to go to 1.46 but it wouldnt work it says i need 1.30 first so i dont know what to do now is there any patches between 1.30 and and of teh 1.4x's because i know for me to get 1.30 i need one of the beta 1.2x's and that works fine so i was wondering if there an between 1.30 and any of 1.4's thaty could maybe help

You should avoid the beta 1.2*'s....

If you have the US original Opf then that gives you 1.20, you need to install 1.30 (Ultimate Upgrade 3) then 1.46, they are the only upgrades/patches you need.......

Perhaps the post I thought was useless wasn't so useless after all, try doing what I suggested, uninstall the game and remove it completely (backup any save games/missions/addons you may want to keep).

Install the game, run CheckOFP_1_20.exe and make sure the install is ok.

Install 1.30, run CheckOFP_1_20.exe and make sure the install is ok.

Then try to install 1.46 and see what happens.

I hope that is clear, I'm confusing myself so hope I'm not confusing you too much as well wink.gif

When it freezes, is the hard disk access light permanently on?

If it is, try leaving it alone for 10-15 minutes and see if it finishes on its own.

Of course, if you rebooting in mid process, you may have to uninstall and start all over again in case anything got corrupted.

no when it freezes the light is not on. it is just sitting there doing nothing and then i have to shut off my computer with the on/off button and then unstill flashpoint and reinstall it because files become corrupted

Hmm...not really...did you download the 1.30 patch? Maybe you should try downloading the patch again just to be sure it's ok, though this is a bit of a long shot  confused.gif

I assume it's crashing when the patch is writing to the game rather than checking it's integrity?

And just to check: you're not overclocking anything are you?

SafeDisk2 is the copy protection software. Very popular with game publishers / developers it seems. But I would have thought if it were SafeDisk2 causing the problems then they would occur when it was checking the CD not when it was patching the files on the hard drive confused.gif

I can tell when a game has SafeDisk2 on it as the old CD-ROM I have on one machine takes about 60 seconds to read it before it can actually start the game smile.gif No problem with the Pioneer DVD drive though.
