thomas82 10 Posted June 2, 2009 Hi I was one of the CTF and C&H fans back in ofp-times.. My suggestion for ARMA2 is quiet simple.. make the control of movement less complex (like it was in ofp) to get the CTF People back. I'm an owner of ARMA2 and tested it quiet a lot.. made a CTF map aswell.. To make CTF beeing fun 2 things should change (in my point of view) Movement: - lets say u are in crouch-postion now. Then u start sprinting, after stop of sprint u should be back in crouch-position (like it was in ofp). - Sometimes it happens that you have to press left-mouse-button to get your weapon back in normal position (after sprinting) .. example: you are sprinting to a house and then u see an enemy 150m away, the control looks like this: sprinting, stop sprint, left mousebutton (to get weapon in position), right mouse button (ironsight), 2nd time right-mousebutton (zoom), left mousebutton (shooting) ... takes way too long .. the effect is, people are camping more coz u cant react fast.. -how smooth, precise and fast your aiming is, is a question of fps.. guess this will be "fixed" with performance improvements of following patches.. Ironsight: - I like the speed from "normal view" to iron-sight after pressing the right mouse-button.. but the iron-sight is way to small. it looks like the eye is like 0.5 m away from the korn.. in ofp u had something like a 1.5x zoom when switchin to ironsight.. thats another reason why ctf was enjoyable. I think most of the things are different, because u have so many possibilities of control.. My suggestion would not harm any other game-mode in arma2 (cti, coop, etc.) We would just get the CTF-People back to ARMA2. And i would love to see that. .kju 3245 Posted June 2, 2009 Very much agreed to your points. - Sometimes it happens that you have to press left-mouse-button to get your weapon back in normal position (after sprinting) .. Do you have a repro for this? It happens to me often too, yet i cant quite figure out how it happens. Also I advise you to put scope on the keyboard ® here. Also you better use toggle zoom in. It will keep zoom permanent on/off without holding the button. -how smooth, precise and fast your aiming is, is a question of fps Correct. Yet maxing sens helps for me AND keep in mind they simulate weapon weight. There will be an addon soon to deactivate this effect for interested folks. You may want to take a look at my key configuration. I have spent lots of time figure out how to optimize it: http://dump.no/files/c6583712f402/kju.ArmA2Profile Most infantry changes listed here: http://pastebin.com/m40ca76f0
thomas82 10 Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) i've tested your control-settings.. it might be better if i get used to it.. my biggest wish for improvement is: 1 right-mousebutton-click = ironsight + zoomed in ..i guess i found out why the weapon is going to safe-mode.. => go crouch, then sprint, move right/left while sprinting, press the "go crouch" key while sprinting => soldier goes crouch and weapon is in safemode.. that makes u feel like u dont have the power over the controls.. thomas82 10 Posted June 2, 2009 UPDATE: u dont have to press "go crouch" again to get the bug. => start with crouch position, sprint forward-right/left
.kju 3245 Posted June 3, 2009 thanks for the repro - forwarded the bug! > 1 right-mousebutton-click = ironsight + zoomed in This should work: Assign optics and toggle zoom in to single RMB click. You may have to unassign "reveal target and zoom".
thomas82 10 Posted June 3, 2009 hmmmm... i didnt get it.. can u test it? it seems like you have more time invested in all the control-possibilities.
.kju 3245 Posted June 3, 2009 Standard profile with zoom in and out unassigned. And zoom in toggle assigned to RMB SC. http://www6.picfront.org/picture/Jbff3E0A2p/img/p001.jpg http://dump.no/files/a2a481e54ec0/PLAYER%25201.ArmA2Profile
