Unable to change my view distance

My view distance seems to be permanently at around 1000m. No matter what I change the setting to, either in the in-game video options or by editing the .ArmaProfile file the view distance stays the same.

The only way I've been able to get it to change is by using the Instant View Distance Add On but I have to open up that addon's menu every time I start a game.

This happens with all add ons or with a pure vanilla install.

I'm running the 505 Games DVD eddition updated to 1.14

My hardware:

Q6600 Quad Core

4GB RAM

GTX 260

Vista 64-bit

any help would be appreciated.

MP or SP?

Most MP servers enforce between 900-1200.

You can 'hack' through it with mods as you describe...If its SP then i have no idea.

this was just me messing around on a MP LAN server making my own missions.
