DaForge 0 Posted March 14, 2009 Hi there. I don't know if it's an idea that's already been posted here, this topic is so huge... And it may be a little too late for developping this kind of feature, but however... It's as simple as that : in the game, our unit's face, arm & hands are cutomisable, that's one good thing to recognize each of our team mates in game. But it's not enough, we need more features like this, that can help us to easely and rapidely know which of our comrade's ass your covering. It may be the possibily to display proper custom images over other part of the unit's body & gear, like the backpack, the sides of the helmet (remember markups on WW2 US soldier's helmets), etc... This feature could be set the same way we set our face in the game, by uploading low res. images. It would obviousely overlay the unit's texture so that any kind of unofficials addons units would be supported (maybe the hardest part ) It should be very useful for quick reaction in combat : the leader would know immediately who he's giving orders, and mates should be more able to stick to their formations. da12thMonkey 1943 Posted March 14, 2009 ArmA's existing squad .xml logo feature works pretty similarly to this. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/squad.xml Mostly squads use it just to show a unit logo, but it's possible for to have unique patches for individuals. I personally have never found it that much more useful for identifying other players though. Currently, the logos show up on the right arm of soldiers as well as vehicles they're driving in. Works on custom addons too so long as they have the correct named selections in the model. To use one requires you writing and hosting an .xml file somewhere on the internet rather than hosting it on your computer and transferring it to the server like a custom face. However, many servers stop block custom files like faces and radio messages to reduce server load, so the .xml solution is better. AFAIK there are a number of ARMA community sites that'll host them for you.
