Melkor 0 Posted February 19, 2009 Just wondering if anyone else out there has had this problem or has any advice. I just downloaded Arma Gold Edition through Sprocket, any it completed the download no problem, but when I run the ArmaGEENG.exe install file nothing happens. If anything the explorer window where the install file downloaded to will just freeze. I've tried running in Compatibility mode for Windows XP, and running as administrator, rebooting several times, but it does the same thing every time, I double click the install file...and nothing.. I know there is a lot of compatibility issues with running the game in Vista, and I'm aware of those, and have also read through the Sprocket Troubleshooting thread, but those are totally different problems (cd key problems, etc)...I can't even get to the installation to run.. Any advice would be appreciated. Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit AMD Phenom II Quad-Core 3.01 ghz 4 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 4850 DX 9.0c

Melkor 0 Posted February 20, 2009 So I redownloaded the file from sprocket but used their direct download option. My Download Manager downloaded it as a 3.58 GB file named index.php...since I couldn't really install the game as a PHP file I renamed it as index.exe and double clicked on it, then my desktop froze for about 10 minutes, then it prompted for my CD key and began installation Just finished installing. I think next time I buy a game which I have to download I'll use Direct2Drive, I've used them before and its a lot less hassle, arma is a little more expensive through them but it would have been worth paying a few more bucks.
