game is choppy after patch installs

I have a computer that is more then required to play this game and it runs the game fine with about 30-45fps without the patches. when i patch to the newest version my frames go to 10-15 making this game unplayable. how can i fix this???

Will arma 2 be better coded? or should i just wait untill flashpoint 2?
