Tank battle blues

Hello all you blood thirsty psyco's

I am doing a Red Hammer mission where you liberate a supply base and drive a repair truck to a town and repair a T72. I am now trying to get my revenge against a group of M60's. Problem is They see me before I can see them (the lovely mist ) and I get wasted before I can wast them. I have tried returning back to the repair truck again to repair the battle damage to my tank but unfortunatly there is no medic tent to repair me and the driver. I have tried to explore the Island for a medic tent but cannot move outside the mission area Please can any to notch tank man give me a few tips

It's quite simple, the key is take your time!

Make yourself gunner and the AI driver, follow the road which heads to the town, slowly approach the crest of the hill overlooking the town, form here you should be able to take out the truck, jeeps and a couple of M60's.

Use the slow drive command (Q) and stop every couple of metres heading east across the width of the town instead of at the town, make use of your optics, zoom in and direct a Sabot at the turrets of the enemy tanks, this should dissable their guns, second shot will destroy them.

Don't rescue the tank crews untill you've cleared the town and the supply depot. Once you've taken care of the M60's still keep your distance from the town and let rip with some HEAT rounds (Just keep firing untill you feel safe and released some aggression) to take out any troops that are still lurking.

do something that i call "tank sniping".

approach slowly. click widely in the direction of where you expect tanks. once u get a lock, stop. take 3 shots that will make it...and when u hear the thing blowing up u splashed one tank.

the first 2 tank missions in red hammer i managed to pull off this way without taking a single hit!!

What I did was move up the hill on the left side, there I can see the tanks and somehow they can't see me. I used HEAT against them, fired one shot and saw the crew jumping out of the tank (The tank isn't smashed yet).

The second way I use to complete this mission was quite funny. I move towards one tank and stop right in front of it. At the back, the other tanks fired at me but hit their friend instead. Total kills, one T80. They killed themself.

What i did was:

I drove very fast into enemy territory. Then i quickly shot al the M60's at their turret. They could still drive, but not fire. I was almost destroyed also, but could still fire. Then i could just pick 'em off. I drove back to the town, as i thought the mission was over. But some LAWS flew past, but missed. I got the hell out of there and reached the repairtruck. Unfortunately i saw three more M60's in the town where the repair truck was. I quickly repaired hiding behind the buidling and killed them. I saved when i got the repairtruck. That was very dumb of me, but i thought that i only had to destroy a few M60's. But a lot of these Rambo mission's are in this campaign. And because i had to reinstall OFP and forgot to make a back-up of my saved games i have to start all over again . I hope i will do it soon, but i find it very shitty, because i did it on veteran mode and some missions where so difficult.
