Why didn't you add the green berets ?

Green berets are in afghanistan right now.I guess Green berets don't get much news time like seals, delta, rangers, recon.Maybe there's too many movies for those 4.I don't know.

i know you were asking a question and i am sorry if i did anything to disrespect you but i hate it when people think delta force is so secret they really arent. the reason why i know alot about them is i know a friend who is joining delta force before he joins the seals. The delta force is part of the army you go to basic boot camp then if you do good and are top of the charts you ask for delta force to your co then he gets you a sheet blah blah if they see that you are serious and capable to join they send some delta force guys to test you if you do good they would bring you in and you get delta force training and bam! your in. P.S. the navy seals are mostly water they have sea land and air but they are mostly sea they have alot of ground/air missions but usally there is water involed like they have to swim up to the beach then go and do the mission on foot.

So....you want to join special ops eh?......GOOD LUCK!, you will need it.

You don't just 'sign up' for special forces. You join the regular Army and are slected by your seniors to take a course. You can also try out but that varies from group to group. Some select, some let you try out. In some cases you are slected to try out. I am not an expert on this subject, so ask around with people who know.

The Army Rangers are kind of the most common 'special' ops group. You try out for them, the Green Berets are a step up. Then there is Delta.

If you are truly interested in doing that stuff, join the regular Army (Infantry) and see how hard it is, then see if you can possibly even qualify for special ops. Just being in the airborn is tough. Doing recce (recon) is hard too.

The Seals belong to the U.S. Navy, their area of responsibility is mostly sea based ops. They do alot of swimming and they don't spend as much time on land as they do in the sea. The seals is totally different from Delta, Green Berets, Rangers, or SAS.

I don't even know why people bother to compare special ops groups, its pointless and stupid and mostly based on personal opinion.

I have a few questions for you......

1. How old are you?

2. Are you in shape?

3. What is your plan for the future?

4. Do you have any dissablities? (eg: hearing problem, glasses?)

5. Are you planning to go to university?

Remember, the career chooses the man, not vice versa

HTH,

Tyler

University can help. If you are already 'training' for the SEALS, why did you ask about the rest of the Special Ops groups? I thought you already did your homework? tounge.gif

[Edit] I was talking to Vicious Lee Aramada smile.gif

I think he means getting in shape, I think 1 seal training exercise is to fill a rubber dingy zodiak thing with sand and run down the beach with it all day, I would never wanna join the Spec ops it aint all that crap u seen on T.V most of the time ur treking around places like Afghanistan targeting Tanks and AA for Planes or in the deepest darkest jungles of Columbia blowing up drug barons, most of the time your expendable and nobody knows where u are i would rather be in the Regular army drivin a tank or MLR.

Well to answer your questions

Im 16

I have no medical disabilaties i run 6 min miles in track

and im not going to college but im in Civil Air Patrol and JROTC

And yeah i wanna join Spec Ops I just dont know which one i want to go into im kinda leaning towards Army Rangers or Marine Recon Force. The reason i asked who does the most black ops is because i dont wanna join some really great spec forces and do missions only when there is some major war

Force Recon stays on ships alot, that doesnt sound fun to me, and YOU DO NOT SIGN UP FOR DELTA FORCE had to get that out, you volunteer for Ranger Training, but all that volunteer dont get to go to training, and many dont make it through training, then the Delta are hand picked by their superiors out of Seals, Force Recon, Air Force spec ops, and Rangers, you dont go to Delta first and then seals! you would hope to be a navy seal and then hope to get picked to go to delta training, Delta is the most highly trained of all US spec ops

WEll in the brittish army it takes 3 years of regular service, then you can take part in the training for the SAS, 4 years to go into the army air core. which is a bugger for me cause thats what i wanna do.

yea..... and sometimes u need experience (like in the infantry) but if you go to www.goarmy.com u will see that they have a special "fastlane" into the special forces going on right now where you go straight from bootcamp to airborne school, you can get all the info for joining the rangers at www.goarmy.com and www.army.mil seal info is at www.navyjobs.com and at www.navy.mil

Every member of the Canadian Infantry wears a green beret, (I've got mine smile.gif )

In Afghanistan, Canada has:

Canadian Spec Ops = JTF 2 (Joint Task Force 2) They mostly specialize in FIBUA ops. (Fighting In Built Up Areas)

A battalion of troops from PPCLI (Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry) [i beleive its 3rd battalion that's there now]

Coyote recce vehicles manned by members of 'Lord Strathcona's Horse'

We are not on a peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan like the Brits and other countries are. Canada is in a 'combat' role with the Yanks.
