Failed to create surface texture ...

I finished to plug my new HD4870 1GB card.

i reinstall my driver as my current card wasn't manage by previous 's one . don't know why. so i reinstall 8.8 , rebooted, erase my arma.cfg and start arma "pure".

i have many entry "Failed to create surface texture". Furmark is working , i will test few games, but i (hope) think my card is working fine.

ps: i have D3Doverride with Vsync and Tripple buffer forced.

okay i have test the card. it's working , but arma fail.

vista x64 , catalyst 8.8 , 4GB , 2048MB pagefile , directx up to date etc .. etc .. etc ...

ps2: damn , i think i can't play with my actual gaming spec.

what the hell ?

.it's related to ram adressing. i disable memory remapping in my asus bios (usefull for adress 4GB and more ), now i'm stuck @ 3GB but arma works.

It is that 1GB memory VC.

At the time when ArmA was cured of large memory issue, there were no 1GB cards (or just getting released).

You should be able to play using the windowed option with all 4gig of your memory.

If/when another patch comes out, it would most likely get fixed.

I waited for 6+ months to see the 1.14 fix the same problem for my pc.

Yes, Asus Remapping is a nice bios option.

my bro's asus A8Nxx for amd has more adressing options. software & hardware remapping.

anyway , i still can't play with 3000 meter and texture "normal".

but i can now crank up AA, anisotropic , and resolution.
