mireazma 0 Posted August 30, 2008 OFP is probably the best game ever. However, 2 problems never encountered in any other game, makes it very annoying: 1. The terrain looks shredded by tiny white lines. This "cancels" so much graphics appearance and high resolution; it makes them irrelevant. 2. The crosshair responds very delayed after mouse moving. This makes me impossible to target and shoot in time, before being dead; after all, it's annoying in general. Could someone of you got rid of such things? zulu1 145 Posted August 30, 2008 mireazma To get a meaningful or otherwise any kind of answer we need some basic information. 1.) What version of OFP do you have? 2.) What kind of system do you have? Â Â a. CPU type and speed ?(mhz/ghz) Â Â b. Amount of memory? Â Â c. Type (make/model) of video card? 3.) What in game settings do you have in options/video settings? Â Â a. Video resolution? Â Â b. FrameRate? Â (if too low video will be "choppy") Â Â c. Visual Quality? Â Â d. Visablity? Â (if too high will cause lag) Â Â e. Terrian detail? Â (if too high will cause lag) 4.) Do you have these settings enabled? Â Â a. Hardware T&L Â Â b. Multitexturing? Â Â c. Object Shadows? Â Â d. Vehicle Shadows? Â Â e. Cloudlets? Â Â Please answer these to your best ablilty and some one my have an answer for you, or maybe going through this may lead you to a fix. *Tip* Try running this file in your OFP directory: FlashpointPreferences.exe
mireazma 0 Posted August 31, 2008 Thank you for replying. 1.) OFP Resistance 1.96 2.)Specs: Windows XP Pro SP2 AMD x2 4200+ (2200 MHz) DDRAM 2048 MB ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512 MB RAM 3.)Settings (set by autodetect): Video res: 1024x768x32 FPS: 60 Direct3D NOT HW T&L I don't know where to find the features you said but here are the ones I have in 'advanced': Performance: Total memory 2048 MB Texture heap 16 MB File heap 16 MB Geometry performance 4508 (slider right in the middle) Effects: Lights 32 Additional lights - all 3 checked Textures: Cockpits / Objects / Landscape 1024 x 1024 Special effects 32 x 32 Auto drop down 4x Details: Max objects 256 Objects lod 0.019 Shadows lod 0.050 EDIT: I've tuned the settings and I got an optimum config like: terrain detail low, 1024 x 768 x 32, visibility 2050, (visual quality doesn't seem to matter neither in appearance nor in performance drop); all shadows enabled, cloudlets and blood enabled. From this config up, it starts to fragment (especially when rising visibility). The delay is there, I think it's ment to beit's visible in optics mode - like a mouse softener (they shouldn't have put it) The tiny white lines are there at all times, like cracks between texture canvases. They're visible even in the ingame menu (the laptop) So, do you see these cracks?
zulu1 145 Posted August 31, 2008 mireazma I haven't seen the prolems you describe, I even dupliacted your settings and things looked ok for me. Your hardware looks more than capable, and for the most part your game setting looks good as well. Quote[/b] ]Direct3D NOT HW T&LI don't know where to find the features you said but here are the ones I have in 'advanced': I would turn on Hardware T&L. You do this in Flashpoint Prefferences. At the bottom there is a box that says display and a drop down box title Display Device. Hit the down arrow and pick Direct 3d T&L. Quote[/b] ]terrain detail low, 1024 x 768 x 32, visibility 2050, (visual quality doesn't seem to matter neither in appearance nor in performance drop); all shadows enabled, cloudlets and blood enabled. I run with terrian detail at normal, gives better ground cover and allows you to hide a bit. Visablilty I run between 1000 and 2000, I can go higher but performance starts to drop and not realistic to be able to see so far  I have to say now you should look at the Windows control panel for your video card. I'm not familiar with ATI, but should be similar to nvidia. Do a right click on an empty spot on your desktop and select properties from the popup menu. A Display properties window should come up. An aleternate method would be start button>control panel>display. Now from the display window click on the setting tab. Then near the bottom of the window should be an advanced button, click it. Now another window should open with a bunch of tabs, like general, adapter, monitor, troubleshot, etc... Look for one for your video card, ATI Radieon HD 2600 and select it. From here you're kind of on your own as like I said I'm not familiar with ATI. You need to find a setting/s on how you card operates. There should be some type of check box that says something like "Let 3D application decide". Some other things to look for are Antialiasing, Anistropic Filtering. These should be set to "Application Controled" Beyond this I don't have much of an answer. You might try swapping out another video card and see what happens. mireazma 0 Posted September 1, 2008 Thanks for your time to write the indications. You're kind. I played on a friend's OFP (same version) and he hasn't the "terrain cracks" problem. ATI, too. I'm at his place now. When I return home, I'll try setting the video card, like you said. EDIT: I don't know what I did but the cracks are gone I've touched the video card settings - that's for sure. I've noticed that the delay on the mouse (which I'm thinking it's from the CPU not video) is influenced more by the OFP preferences rather than ingame video settings, especially - HW T&L So, it's all set. Thanks again.
