theavonlady 2 Posted March 4, 2002 I once had to dela with CompUSA. Never again. Getting back to the problem, have you read this recent thread? It's mind-boggling how nasty a home computer can get!
walbatross 0 Posted March 4, 2002 ***WARNING - OPINION*** I have tried all things in forums, faqs, and help files. I've wasted countless of precious hours trying to figure out how to get the gold edition full to work at my computer. I've took everyones suggestions and comments and tried every one. Some these suggestions made my computer crash and I had to restore my hardrive. The fact is I have a brand new computer: Pentium 4, Windows XP, 1.8Ghz, 512 DDR SDRAM, 32MB NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 with all the extras. I have many, many other games, 30 atleast, that run fine from the get go. This is the first time this has happened to me. I am no newbie when it comes to computers so I am pretty comfortable to say that there is something wrong with the game. I returned it today and got store credit. I am very dissapointed in Codemasters for not catching their mistake sooner. It has made alot of people suffer many countless hours infront of their computers trying to make a game work. I appreciate all the suggestions everyone gave but I wish someone would have suggested that maybe there is something wrong with the game. Especially when many people who have the game are writing into this forum. I wonder how many other people that are having the same problem won't ever make their voice heard. I was really looking forward to playing OPF but I guess I will spend my money elsewhere. On a game that works right out of the box, not after trying 20 different things and altering my brand new computers setting. If Codemasters believes that to make a great game the buyer needs to be a computer programmer to operate their game. They must have a small market in mind that doesn't include myself. obi-wan 0 Posted March 5, 2002 I just wanted to let you know I called Codemasters and they said they had a problem. The person I talked to said he would send me an E-Mail with some things to try. Well I have yet to get the E-Mail. I don't think I will get one. I for one will never buy another game from this company. I have tried all the things. The game still will not work it looks like they got my $43.00 and I got ripped off. I want to thank all the people for all the help. I just wish it worked. P.S. If you do think of some thing other that may help let me know.
obi-wan 0 Posted March 6, 2002 I just got this. Hi, Ben, We have just become aware of a new problem. It seems to be restricted to Operation Flashpoint install CDs in the Gold Edition package only. So far we have determined that the install goes well but when you select play, you receive an "illegal operation in ~DF394B.TMP" error message. When the install CD is replaced with a CD from the original or "non-gold" box, the game will then work. This would indicate the files installed to your computer are not a problem. Rather, it is when the game needs to access the CD that we see the problem. We are trying to determine a solution as quickly as we can. We are rushing copies of problem CDs to our labs in the UK and to the facility in the US where the CDs were made. We would not recommend returning the CD to the store for a replacement of another "Gold Edition" package. Based on our tests, this will not solve the problem. We do not believe this is not a problem restricted to your individual CD. We will post something to our Codemasters USA Technical FAQ page as soon as there is something to communicate. Please let us assure you that we will "make this right" and thank you for your patience while we sort this out. Thank you, John Codemasters USA Technical Support
theavonlady 2 Posted March 6, 2002 Yes, I really feel awful about the time I cause people to waste figuring out what was wrong, though I guessed this yesterday.
