GodHammer 0 Posted August 14, 2008 Since I'm making the TV guided version of KH-29, I built its whole seaking head. I also built the semispheric glass that covers the TV-guide device, but I am not able to make it semi-trasparent. I tried with an alpha channel on the missile texture and also tried to add a second 128x128 texture for the glass only. Still the glass appears not trasparent in O2. Any advice? Messiah 2 Posted August 14, 2008 use file suffix _ca
GodHammer 0 Posted August 14, 2008 Thanks for answering first of all. What do you mean exactly? Using suffix _ca where? On texture file?
Messiah 2 Posted August 14, 2008 yes: texturename_co.tga would be a normal diffuse map texturename_ca.tga would be a normal diffuse map with alpha (i.e. your glass texture) You can use alpha channels with the _co suffix, but they are either fully alpha or not at all (Which is what has happened to your glass). Only useful if you wanted to cut holes in a texture.
GodHammer 0 Posted August 14, 2008 Yippeyyyyyyyyy! It works finally Thank you Messiah! Â Now it just needs a better texture Thanks again for help!
Messiah 2 Posted August 14, 2008 my pleasure. It looks very nice indeed, a fine bit of texture work. I think the glass texture looks fine as it is, but of course its your work to change as you wish
GodHammer 0 Posted August 14, 2008 Yes, I need to add some stuff to the aiming device texture. The glass is taken from a very good picture of a Maverick head, it shows reflections if you see it closer. Thank you again Messiah, cheers! Â *done*
DaSquade 0 Posted August 15, 2008 Maybe me, but you might want to check the edges between the glass and the missile. By the looks of it it doesn't have sharp values witch makes the front part of the tube cast bad/non-realistic lightning. See pic:
