Tor 0 Posted February 28, 2002 My OPF stutters with W-buffer enabled. My specs are P4 1.8ghz, 512mb, SBLive! 1024 and GeForce3 Ti200. I use nVidia detonator 23.11 and creative's XP drivers for the soundcard. Why do I have the stutter with w-buffer enabled? And does it matter that I turn it off? What does it do? ALDEGA 0 Posted March 1, 2002 Avon: http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/install/wbuffer.htm In the end W-buffering is more accurate than Z-buffering. How do I notice the difference? Well when using Z-buffering you may notice that textures which are pretty far away, start flashing/flickering. This is because of the fact that Z-buffering isn't accurate enough to determine which texture is in front of the other. When using W-buffering, the flashing will stop, due to more precision for objects which are further away.
