The-Architect 0 Posted March 31, 2008 My specs are as follows. Intel Core Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40Ghz 2047 MB 32 bit Vista NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT Realtek High Def Audio I can only play on Sahrani if I have view distance set to 500 and I stay out of the cities. Is this normal or have I got it set up wrong?
BraTTy 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Well the video is fairly weak...8600gt would have been quite a bit faster. Weird to have that nice CPU and only a 40-50$ video card. I just built an economy PC for the wife and I decided on the 8600gt but then went for 8600gts which is a pretty good buy and faster yet.(under 100$ USD) http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphic....art=318 Is showing 8500gt down around 6600gt speed.I can't see why you would need to go as low as 500 view distance, maybe cause you have some AA or AF on which you may want to be running low settings. (I would want 700-1200 view distance) You could overclock your videocard some and maybe upgrade to XP (lol) would see more performance
7 0 Posted April 1, 2008 what resolution do you use? i have a 24 inch widescreen so if i use the full resolution it runs like crap. fixed it by enabling "center output" in video card options - what it does is it renders the resolution as a monitor of that size would so the entire screen isnt used but as a result you get a HUGE fps increase. oChaos.DNJ 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Video card is holding you back the most. An 8500GT wasnt ment for gaming. Id go for no less then a 9600GT, if you wanted better 8800GT -> 8800GTS (G92) -> 9800GX2. After the video is settled, you could increase performance pretty good by overclocking that Q6600. Also if possible, dual boot XP to run games on, since 2GBs for Vista is like minimum requirements. I wouldnt go with anything less then 4GB with Vista. ( Personally I still would use XP, just x64 if I had 4GB.) BLUFOR do you have an ATI card? Because on NVIDIA cards you goto Change flat panel scaling, then select Do Not Scale. This will make it render the resolution in the center of screen with black bars around it, instead of streching the image to fit the screen.
