Callaghan 1 Posted March 26, 2008 Here is the premise, I have been with the OFP/Arma community from day 1, and have always been a mission editor and done a little scripting and config work on the side. Ive always wanted to get into addon making, but its a daunting process for someone who has no 3d modelling experience. There will be those who say, don't bother its not worth it if you dont know what your doing etc but imho nothing worth doing is easy and id like to put the time into learning it. Where should i start? What tools, resources, tutorials and anything else will i need? Any advice, links and suggestions will be gratefully accepted. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Â its probably not worth it.. because on Brsseb's.. he gives step-by-step tutorials with pictures. Von Rundstedt 0 Posted March 26, 2008 Well you could have took a look on topic "Beginners oh beginners tutorials" in which same thing was just discussed today, never harms to look around a bit before making exactly same kind topic. You will be needing Oxygen 2 Personal Edition, which you can get pretty much from any ArmA news site, also you will be needing ArmA installed for buldozer to work. This is good start. Some people prefer 3DsMax, but personaly I find no need for such and don't find it logical to pay big sum of money, especially since BIS kindly provided us with great tool called O2. Best place to start playing around with modelling is to heed Brsseb's tutorials posted by Stilton. Some words don't translate correct, but healthy common sense will fill blanks. Ultimately in modelling best way to learn is to look others works, read this forum regulary and try it by yourself. I tend not to use the search function on this site as it has not on a single occasion found something relevant, might just be misfortune but wont go into it.. What would you suggest is a good thing to make, not to start on but something that uses most of the functions. Mainly I would like to make a turret to stick on the BIS BRDM that converts it into the Strela AA version, kinda like the ATGM version they have but the twin launchers have a space between them and i'd also like to retex to make a desert version with realistic wear and sun bleaching etc (the only thing thats shiny in war is freshly spilled blood lol). Von Rundstedt 0 Posted April 15, 2008 If you plan to build it on BIS MLOD BRDM-2, which would be sanest thing at this case, I can say that no matter how detailed rocket launchers you make on it you can't go over decent poly limit.
